im thinking about getting a dog

any suggestions? also, i have a question. i would not be able to handle a dog fucking up my house or furniture. that would be a dealbreaker sort of thing

what are your thoughts on finding a dog that is housebroken and is guaranteed to not fuck up my place?

Martina Warren 04-09-2007 07:16 PM

Id say if you dont want to put the work into it, then dont get a dog :2 cents:

webmasterchecks 04-09-2007 07:22 PM

yea, im not disagreeing with you. ive never had a god because i never wanted that responsibility. a1r3ks thread made me think though. i would want a dog more than a cat and am considering it

Pomeranian..chicks dig them

Humpy Leftnut 04-10-2007 07:07 PM

I have a Viszla, best dog ever, he doesn't lick me, totallly affectionate, follows me everywhere, gets mad if my wife hugs me, and is super regal looking.

Fat Panda 04-10-2007 07:08 PM

fuck the dog....get a hooker

candyflip 04-10-2007 07:44 PM

GFY'ers love their pugs. There's at least 10 of us here that have 'em.

JaneB 04-10-2007 09:50 PM

Go to the pound and adopt a dog. A lot of them are already trained. They are usually turned in by owners who did not want them anymore. Rescue groups are also a good choice.

LittleSassy 04-10-2007 09:51 PM

well i'd go for a siberian husky, great guard and friend

GAMEFINEST 04-10-2007 09:53 PM

i like dogs...except done have one...i want a ...i forgot

WarChild 04-10-2007 09:57 PM

If you want a dog that's not going to "fuck up your place", you want an adult dog that's already trained.

Check your local newspaper for people looking for a new home for an adult dog. You can also check local shelters and the SPCA. Many dogs don't have homes, why not help one out?

MARVAS 04-10-2007 10:00 PM

If you do not want your dog fuck up your house, then don't buy it, dogs which are not spoiling the furniture are not existing! :1orglaugh

Give me a break. I have three Rottweilers, cumatively over 300 pounds of dogs, and my furniture is untouched.

pussyluver 04-10-2007 10:05 PM

Hear Sony has a cute dog that shits batteries....

All dogs will have accidents..... Live with it or forget it. Nothing like the smell of urine on new carpet.

Gerco 04-10-2007 10:17 PM

I have an 1.7 year old English Mastiff, A 5 year old Yellow coon hound and I just got a 8 week old Great Dane yesterday.

Big dogs rock, and in the case of the mastiff, The do drool a little, but the are basically huge carpets. laziest dog ever..

I have a black lab and a german shepherd and they are great in the house. They do not chew up anything or do anything to the furniture. There are plenty of dogs that act just fine in a house.

ztik 04-11-2007 12:53 AM

greyhound!

You are the reason for this.

You piss me off!
Dogs are like kids. If you get a puppy and spend the time needed to train them correctly in the first few months, you'll have many years of friendship. They need to be feed and them walked daily.
Sometimes I am tired or have things to do...yet..cold weather, rain, heat..will not stop me from keeping my responsibility.

Just from your thread I would suggest you get a Gold Fish.

John 04-11-2007 02:06 AM

These guys are smart and down for their shit. Wont recommend them for indoors after they're around 6 months.

better buy a tammagotschi

Milf Melanie 04-15-2007 09:17 AM

If you're already worried about having to deal with dog issues then don't get one. They need lots of love and attention and you'll get that back 100 times over.

MandyBlake 04-15-2007 09:18 AM

we have two boston terriers and a big old mutt.
get a boston! they are wonderful

Pumba 04-15-2007 09:22 AM

Get a big, fat and lazy dog. It will stay away bfrom your furniture if it is to lazy.

Angelo22 04-15-2007 09:57 AM

One of those chihuahas (spelling?) would be too small to mess up your furniture

Goodings Media 04-15-2007 10:17 AM

Get a german shepherd, my mom used to work with the police training them, awesomely well behaved dogs IF YOU TEACH THEM RIGHT read a fuck load of books on it, and if your still nervous, pay for dog training classes once u get it, it'll be a sound investment in the long run

You are one crazy fucker. How about I beat the fuck out of you? Only a pussy would beat a dog. :thumbsup :thumbsup

tony286 04-15-2007 09:26 PM

If you know it will bother you, dont get a dog because they might be fine now. My oldest boston is going to be 10, the medication he is on for his eyes makes him piss more. So we have many more mistakes in the house. If your not able to say I dont care about the mess, a dog is not for you. Also remember a dog is about a 14-18 yr commitment, if you dont think you can do til death do us part.Dont get a dog.

rapmaster 04-15-2007 09:31 PM

Have a german shepherd and a Japanese chin - the small one is pretty easy to handle.

How is your Shepherd? They are usually really dog dogs. Mine is a great dog, she does get aggressive with other dogs though, so now we are going to take some training courses.

g$$$ 04-16-2007 12:03 AM

dont get a dog...worse than having a child

v4 media 04-16-2007 01:34 AM

Greyhounds are great dogs, get a retired racer, 3-4 years old. I've had 2 when I was a kid, never fucked with furniture, chewed anything.

Or get a ferret, they're cute fuckers and don't chew stuff, and you can take them out for walks... Girls love em. hehe

Walrus 04-16-2007 03:25 AM

Just remember, dogs aren't "things" or "objects" as many pet owners like to think of them. It is those people who think of dogs this way that end up turning them over to shelters. They are living creatures with wants and needs just like humans have. If a dog rips up furniture that is the owner's fault, not the dog's.

spunkmister 04-16-2007 04:43 AM

I rescued a golden retriever (2 year old) but even if you go that path thinking you are gonna get a house trained dog just know that it takes time for a dog to get used to a change of environment, so there may be messes in the house the first month until they adjust to you and your ways.

A dog takes a lot of time and effort, especially the first few months, so unless you have the time and energy to invest don't get one. If you can try fostering one for a few months and see if it works out.

Exactly, if you are not prepared to deal with some problems or issues from time to time you shouldn't get a dog (or any other animal). Even the most well trained and behaved dog can get sick or frightened and with that will come messes or incidents. You need to have time to spend with and on the pet. And it is definately a 10 to 15 year commitment (depending on the breed and age of the dog when you get them). It can also be an expensive proposition should they get sick at any time. However if you are prepared for these things the rewards far outweigh the costs.

princess 04-16-2007 08:15 AM

A Pomeranian.. I have one.. he's loyal.. normally they get extremely attached to the one that takes care of him or is around them the most.. They're good guard dogs.. mine only barks when he hears something outside or a car.. they are easily trained if you work with them.

Not to mention they are just soo loveable..
