Saw Grindhouse last night...

Pretty badass!
That 3 and a half hours went by like nothing. If you are a Quentin Tarantino fan or you just like a good gory action flick then you have to check it out!
:thumbsup

RedShoe 04-11-2007 08:39 AM

that makes 1. Most people said it sucked ass.

shoeaholicanon 04-11-2007 08:40 AM

Nice! I want to check it out!

Really? I was entertained.
As long as you go into it just wanting to see some sillyness, guts, and a little cheesy humor then you shouldn't be disappointed.
I watched a little preview about it about a week ago, so I knew not to expect a timeless classic. It is exactly what it is supposed to be.

I liked the first flick better than the second one though.

Sosa 04-11-2007 08:55 AM

I thought the previews were pretty damn bad.

Jman 04-11-2007 09:05 AM

Liked the first zombie flick, had to wake up Vid on the second one so we could bail and I go pee.

Wasn't that impressed and should of gone to see Blades of Glory ;-)

Define "most". It has averaged 77% and 81% scores on metacritic and rottentomatoes, so I would say most people have enjoyed it.

Was a great movie

Fetish Gimp 04-11-2007 09:24 AM

Loved it. I enjoyed Planet Terror more than Death Proof, as Rodriguez got into the spirit of the thing, while Tarantino did a Tarantino movie.

I think it didn't do well at the box office because of how long it is and because it's target audience is very narrow (plus the NC-17 rating).

"Lord of the Rings" could get away with being three hours long because huge hordes of nerds were waiting for it, and it was rated PG-13.

Been hearing they might release PT and DT as stand-alone movies. I hope they release a dvd version with trailers, missing reels and both movies though.

It was NC-17? I didn't even realize that & don't really get why, lol!

I also liked Planet Terror.
Death Proof started a bit too slow especially since it was the second movie.

never take the advice from "most people" if you're iffy, go see it, just because 9 out of 10 people didn't like it, doesn't mean you arn't one of the people who do like it... i hate when people decide to start hating a movie because someone else said it sucks... have your own opinion :2 cents:

haha! I will probably go see Blades of Glory this weekend.

There was a preview before Grindhouse for a movie with Jon Cusak called "Room 1408" looks pretty freaky.
I want to see that one when it comes out also. :thumbsup

Brujah 04-11-2007 10:59 AM

Agree, I loved it and thought the time went by quicker than I thought it would.

MeganS 04-11-2007 11:21 AM

Both movies borrowed HEAVILY from movies of the past. That was the whole point. It wasn't original at all. :winkwink:

candyflip 04-11-2007 12:53 PM

Here's a good read.

donkevlar 04-11-2007 01:08 PM

Saw it last night, both were really dope in their own way.

I'm not even going to START arguing with morons trying to act cool and say how they didn't like it because of ______. You either liked it, didn't like it and appreciated it, or you didn't 'get' it.

It's not, it is Rated R. Most theatre chains in america won't show NC-17 movies.

I'll be waiting for the DVD before I see this one. I am a fan of both of these guys, but I don't want to sit in a theatre for 3+ hours.

I think what she meant is compared to anything out recently it's original...

but yeah, you are right. I saw a whole preview about the movie & what a "grindhouse" movie is prior to going in so I knew what to expect & I think they did a great job with it! :thumbsup

VexXxed 04-11-2007 03:04 PM

Grindhouse was ill. I highly recommend it to any fan of Tarantino/Rodriguez.

If you didn't like From Dusk till Dawn, odds are you won't like this.

Jimmy Rock 04-11-2007 03:08 PM

Gonna check it out, but damn it's a long ass movie, no smoke breaks!

Most definitely unlike anything that's been in the theatres in a while.

If you haven't seen Blade of Glory yet. GO! Drop everything right now and GO. This is one of Will Farrell's best. I found myself in hysterics from start to finish.
