yes he has.

crockett 04-12-2007 02:02 PM

I always love the double standards.. comedians have open reign to make fun of white people.. call them Cracker, honey, whitey or what ever but as soon as some white guys makes fun of another race he's a racist and has to be fired or boycotted.

I try to never judge people by race but by their actions however I do get sick of the double standards.

Mish 04-12-2007 02:03 PM

Piss off the advertisers and you can forget about it.... CBS was fine with a 2-week suspension until their advertisers started bailing... and their deal with MSNBC fell apart....

EBORG9 04-12-2007 02:04 PM

Let's see if CBS continues their new found "sensitivity", and cleans up Viacom of all that bullshit on MTV.
It was bound to happen. I knew one day, somebody would say something like this.
It has opened a dialogue, thank God, and maybe we can actually get something done.
I , for one, am tiered of the rest of this shit too.
I do not support the double standard.

If in fact, the Black community is speaking about this as a whole, then it is now time to start policing ourselves, and get on this minstrel sideshow that some hip hop has become, and stop making these words mainstream.

I don't agree with what he said, but I still give him some credit for the amount of charity work he has done over the years, obviously he is not a complete ass, but, it was bound to happen.

Shaft_1971 04-12-2007 02:06 PM

Thanks for the news update =)

DOCTOR 30 04-12-2007 02:08 PM

Maybe Shane Diesel can replace Imus as the new morning drive talk show host?

teh ghey 04-12-2007 02:08 PM

Michael Savage says way way worse on a daily basis. Why doesnt anyone fire him?

_Richard_ 04-12-2007 02:08 PM

Honestly, this is just a media circus. Im willing to bet most black people dont give a rats about whatever comment Imus makes. This is just so the news stations can have a story and put a few token black people on the air "that speaks for the black community" (since thats how they get paid). Just because sharpton is on CNN doesnt mean the black community is outraged.

I think the difference is, comedians say things within a joke and are known for their act, so when people go to see them they know what to expect. Plus.. comedians don't direct dark comments at anyone specifically as a rule.

Imus has been known to say some pretty rough things about specific people as he was known for that. Nothing was done about it, so all has been well. it's just this time he went too far. I think mostly because these gals were just young students/athletes trying to do good and he slammed them pretty hard.
Then of course the media went wild with it; bringing it to the world's attention causing even more of a backlash to the point of advertisers pulling their ads. Then the inevitable happened...

There have always been double standards within the two races... Ya have the Negro college fund, black whatever month, black this or that... Where if there were a suggestion to have a white college fund, or white whatever, there would be screams of racism..

I hate Imus always have but free speech is just that free speech i am sick of our freedoms being robbed from us on a daily basis. It doesn't matter what race you are if you are an american today you lost just a little more of your freedom. what people don't understand and what this country has forgotten over the years is that the hardest part of freedom is letting others have theirs

You're right...It's not the first time he has done something like this....And just like the other times, he hit the nail on the head.

Have you seen the pics of the women involved? They do look like nappy headed hos.

mhende6600 04-12-2007 02:51 PM

I'm glad he got fired. He should have his ass kicked also. It's not right to bad mouth young woman in college getting an education no matter how they look.
Fuck him and all the other people who think freedom of speech allows you to hurt other peoples feelings for your personal laughs. And for those who keep saying "what about the rappers" well fuck them too it's plenty of real ho's out here to talk about besides those woman. What about all the nasty porn sluts that suck dick for money and all the gold diggers fucking for gifts (Anna Nicole Smith) now that's was a ho.

So, I guess you feel Imus is "ENTITLED" to a high-paying job, regardless of his actions.

He can say whatever he wants. No one is throwing him in jail.

But, I guess you feel whites should pay no consequences for their actions.

Gotcha.

Phoenix 04-12-2007 02:53 PM

not suprising really

If it was a black man calling a bunch of blondes "yellow headed bimbos" or something, nobody would have said anything

It was a witch hunt, flat out.

Rap music does more damage to "black culture" than any white person alive could do.

Listen to the lyrics of this song and tell me that black culture is not diseased

if that is what you got from what I said I am sorry I do not agree with what he said but I do believe in the constitution and his right to say it as it it my right to call him a fucked up old out of touch asshole racist peace of garbage. That is my right, it is my opinion if some doesn't like it they are FREE TO DISAGREE with me is THERE RIGHT UNDER FREE SPEECH and that is my point

Phil 04-12-2007 03:04 PM

I don't even know who that is. I mean I do, but I have never heard him talk. So who gives a flying fuck ?!

That's your problem, if white people wanted to stop it they could they control all media. Tim Hardaway was fired from his NBA sports casting job for saying something about gay people.

Freedom of speech involves some responsibility.. Just because the constitution gives us freedom of speech doesn't mean that people aren't supposed to react to some of that speech...

And as for letting others have their freedon as well... You're right...
One's freedom ends where another's begins..

As some think Imus had the freedom to say what he said... Others also had the freedom to react, and the rest is as it is..

Freedom isn't one sided...

You are correct. He is free to say whatever he likes. But CBS isn't required to give him a platform. They didn't tell him he can't say those things, they just told him he can't say those things on their channel. There is a freedom of speech. There is no a freedom of national syndication or platform.

If you don't like what one person says, then don't listen to them. If I had a issue with somebody saying something, I wouldn't listen to it. But yet, I am very open minded and it doesn't offend me to hear any other race talk shit about whites.

I totally agree and that is my point I don't like what he said but I am not gonna ever say he didn't have the right to say it and him getting fired is just that someone saying what someone else has the right to say

Employers can do that, when the remarks in question are made on their time.

NichePay_Manny 04-12-2007 03:19 PM

It's about time .

Mr Steele 04-12-2007 03:28 PM

Still not understanding how the word "nappy" is being made into such a big deal. That was a nickname for the creator of Napster, based on his nappy hair. White dude too. :winkwink:
http://www.time.com/time/poy2000/pwm/fanning.html

There's even a hiphop group called Nappy Roots http://www.down-south.com/images/cov...Watermelon.JPG

Jason whitlock form AOL had a great article about this issue though http://sports.aol.com/whitlock/_a/ti...11111509990001

Why 04-12-2007 03:49 PM

fuck this, fuck that, fuck you.

thats called freedom of speech, he can say anything he wants, and if you dont like it dont listen. i dont understand what the big issue is anyways. dont listen to him if you think he is an idiot. but to whine and cry about it later is just plain stupid...

oh, and the last i heard, distasteful comments were still protected by the 1st amendment, you people as pornographers should NOT be supporting people stepping on the only thing standing between you and jail(given the GOP had thier way)

Did you know he was in the middle of a radiothon? Over the past 18 years, he has raised over $50 million for charities.

He also has done a ton of work for sick kids with cancer.

Were all victims here.

The media is being irresponsible.

If they don't watch what they are doing, they are going to have your neighbors knocking your door down with guns, to get YOU before you get THEM.

Why 04-12-2007 03:53 PM

the beauty of the 1st amendment is the fact that you can piss in peoples cheerios and they have to swallow it.

its a great thing till your on the receiving end, init?

woodsix 04-12-2007 04:13 PM

it's funny

It's funny when people like you only get upset when it happens to a "white"

Just before this happened, Tim Hardaway and Michael Ray Richardson were fired for comments about gays and Jews.

However, since they are not "white" I guess they do not get to enjoy FREEDOM OF SPEECH.

I guess only "whites" should keep their jobs when they exercise FREE SPEECH.

It's like this your best friend or spouse can call you an asshole prick or cunt. But go to Exxon and the lady behind the counter does it, how would you feel? A woman can call her best friend a bitch or slut but if you do it... A father can call his son a good for nothing son of a bitch sissy fag, but if I did it....The Chief of Police can call one of his officers a lazy so and so, but if you do it. A chinese person can call another chinese person a dink but let the Mayor of New York say it. Do you get it now. Why would you want to say it in the first place?:2 cents:

You don't have free speech on someone else's dime, on Government Monitored Airwaves.
You don't have a right to say what you want unless you have your own pulpit, and you are not infringing on someone else's rights.
Everyone is crying freedom of speech. This was just a straight out personal insult.
College students, and peoples children are not fair game.
Most media has the respect not to fuck with peoples kids who are in the public eye, now you can just spit crap on women trying to get an education, and playing for a championship?

...and please stop talking as if Al Sharpton is some kind of "Leader of all Black People". WE ARE NOT A GROUP! WE ARE INDIVIDUAL AMERICANS JUST LIKE YOU. NOT SOME MYSTERIOUS ENTITY
WITH A GENERAL SPOKESPERSON.
