Mexico City's Got the Shakes.... 6.2 Earthquake just hit.
http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/.../10/260_20.php
Hope everyone's alright. "MEXICO CITY - An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.2 rocked Mexico early Friday, striking 60 miles north of Acapulco on the country's Pacific coast, the U.S. Geological Survey said." http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18085190/ |
6.2 is huge. I was in a 5. something in LA back in 1991 and I shit my pants:(
|
Some places in mexico city are built over fill of some ancient lake and the effects of an earthquake are amplified in those areas (saw a documentary on it)
Is it on CNN yet? |

wow. thats nuts
|
6,2 is pretty hard :(
|
Ok to be clear, Mexico City is nowhere near Acapulco. It's as much as a 10 hour drive away (or about 5 on their newish toll highway... costs about $120 US each way I think)
News came from Mexico City. Quake hit north of Acapulco. Not to devalue the devastating news, just wanted to point that out before people go calling their friends in Mexico City. :) If a 6.2 hit the city, it would be horrifying. |
