Does Propecia really work?

Randyyy 04-14-2007 03:06 PM

DickShoke: I use Propecia. One pill has to be taken with grapefuit juice every evening. I've been taking Propecia over two years. Propecia thickens your hair starting past the temples on both sides and further back.

"Jesus H Christ" made a post on the board about it a while back, from what he said i would never use it. A lot of negative side effects.

the question this guy has and most guys have is not about growing new hair - guys want to take it before their hair falls out, so if you start taking it before your hair falls out does Propecia protect you?

cosis 04-14-2007 03:51 PM

I would say if your bald now it's too late, however if you have a lot of bald men in your family you may want to think about taking it as a prevention.

who cares about hair

when it gets too thin, shave it off
bald is fine

of course I'm not bald so i can say that

cosis 04-14-2007 03:53 PM

If your bald definately shave it close, but hair beats bald anyday

for the majority of people that use it, it slows hairloss down and in some cases stops it completely...

but anything you lost up to that point especially around the hairline & temples wont come back

so yeah, if you notice anything start taking it early and you should be able to maintain the goods :thumbsup

Tical: You are correct.

"for the majority of people that use it, it slows hairloss down and in some cases stops it completely... "

Propecia slows loss of hair to a very small extent. Without undergoing a hair transplant there's not much use of having Propecia. If you are bound to be bald in a matter of months, Propecia will merely slow hair loss down by a few weeks. Propecia won't grow back the hair past the temples, it'll only thicken the roots of what hair remains. Side effects? I've felt none.

"but anything you lost up to that point especially around the hairline & temples wont come back"

Propecia is given to clients scheduled to have hair transplants. At the consultation you are given Propecia months before the date of surgery.

Propecia's primary use is to thicken the hair line at the back of your skull. This is where the doctor will make an incision to then extract a long strip of your hair line. Your hair line is then harvested under microscopes and these thousands of micro sized grafts from your hair line are planted in areas of baldness.

After a hair transplant, the use of Propecia is mandatory to sustain thickness from the temples back. You then drop/spray Minoxidil 5% to rejuvenate new hair cells to ascend from beneath your scalp. Propecia adds strength to any of these new hair cells coming up.

As with any hair implanted to the front hairline and temple area. Minoxidil 5% cover this problem. Since the hair implanted in your hair line front region was used from the back of your skull, the new hair at the front hair line will be really thick.

Propecia and Minoxidil 5% work in harmony and they depend on one another.

Generic Propecia works, and it is a better selling drug than Viagra.

:)

MandyBlake 04-14-2007 06:07 PM

i heard from a friend it does.

Jim_Gunn 04-14-2007 06:21 PM

Propecia can work to slow hair loss especially at the early stages, but some men can suffer significant side effects, especially to their hormone levels and sexual performance. Some men report serious side effects lasting long after they stop taking propecia.

BlackCrayon 04-14-2007 06:40 PM

propecia will give you bitch tits, amoung other things.

camgirlshide 04-14-2007 07:33 PM

do you dislike rogaine?

Ace_luffy 04-14-2007 07:51 PM

let me think...:)

BigL 04-14-2007 10:25 PM

camgirlshide: Minoxidil 5% is the Rogaine formula on steroids. 5% means there's an extra touch of alcohol for utilizing all the blood cells your brain/scalp can muster to the top.

One problem is who and where you buy the Minoxidil 5%. Some doctors don't let you know the formula expires within two months. These doctors make thousands from selling small expired useless bottles. I had to find a doctor selling the prescription labelled bottle from a pharmacy with an expiry date.

Jaytown 04-14-2007 10:48 PM

You can get rogain at fucking walmart dude, if your just thinning USE it, it fucking works and WILL keep what you have and grow a little back if you STICK TO IT. The recent problems with rogain where having to put the oily shit on twice a day in the morning and at night and it takes about 2 hours to dry, but now they have the rogain foam, MUCH better, better coverage, easier to apply and since its like moose it dries in minutes. Dont fuck around with drugs, if your thinning use rogain foam RELIGIOUSLY, get a transplant, or just accept it.

istanboys 04-14-2007 10:57 PM

Do these drugs affect body hair as well?

BigL 04-14-2007 11:26 PM

istanboys: The drugs are meant to only work where the surgical implants of a few thousands grafts are placed on your head.

Jaytown: "get a transplant, or just accept it."

Exactly. If you are losing hair and don't schedule a hair transplant your time is up. Anyone going this route should know there's extras to buy; around 1k in Vitamin E oil bottles after the surgery - for scabs to peel off. Pain is relieved from perkaset and tylenol 4 wth codeine. Staples are in the back of your skull for two weeks then removed. Surgery itself takes +/- 10 hours depending on the graft volume you are having implanted.

Results in two weeks to two months are magnificent if you go through the right doctor.
