Corporate Moral: What do you do to keep your empoloyees happy?

Hello All:

We are convinced at Silvercash that our team is our number one priority! With all the competition and the challenges of finding good people, what do you do to keep your current team members happy?

Also, do you have any good corporate social event ideas?

The Adult Broker 04-16-2007 06:38 PM

well, first thing that comes to mind, take the word 'corporate' out of the questions and that will be a good place to start ;)

structure is good, corporate is stifling.

team morale...mutual respect goes a long way. And so does some gift cards to Best Buy :)

as for social events.... well, there's paintball ;) LOL

I'll come up with some fun ideas for you!

CuriousToyBoy 04-16-2007 06:54 PM

Our office has a pool table, a pinball machine, fugeball table, 2 XBox360's and 2 big flat plasma screens and a big assed lounge.... we can stop and play any whenever we want to take a break.... many a meeting is held over a game of pool in this place ;-)

We also have a REAL coffee machine, and coffee/tea/milk/sugar and stuff are provided, as are healthy snacks (dried fruit, nuts and stuff) and we get a weekly delivery of a huge basket of fruit to consume as we please. Oh, and a fridge regularly restocked with a variety of bottles of fruit juice, also on the house.

We do "Team Pizza" lunches for anyone's birthday or special events or sometimes for no reason at all....

We do organized social stuff every couple of months, but the folks are also members of an exclusive "Vodka Bar", and the troops head on that way most Friday's for liquid refereshment on management.....

Last Christmas EVERYONE in the office got a PSP from the bosses.

Pay is generous, bonuses are (I would bet) BETTER than most in the biz, working conditions rock and Ben, Phil and Lori REALLY care - they don't just pay lip service, they have engendered a real family environment.

Ben, Phil and Lori, as people and for and also for their attitudes towards working life, make working for LionDollars a fucking pleasure.

We get all our travel and show expenses covered, and Phoenix came down to Australia last year for a couple of weeks and Z will get his turn soon enough I would expect.

Our lives do NOT suck.

At all.

LionDollars makes a sensational sponsor program because the "look after those that look after you" is not a policy, it is an ATTITUDE.

We look after our affiliates like Ben, Phil and Lori look after us.

The folks take our top webmasters, traffic brokers and good friends to Amsterdam EVERY year for New Years Eve as a REAL "thankyou" for their help and support, and it is ALL paid for !!

Have you ever seen anyone posting they are moving on from LionDollars ?

Things here are in no policy manual - nor just spoken about - it is just done as a matter of course. It's natural, and you cannot create that as much as you try.

;-)

Yeah, he does, but that is for a completely unrelated reason. But I think his thumb-sucking was a result of 5 years at Lightspeed.

Albert, hit me up, I have several tried and true bonding/team building events I've put together when I was in the corporate world. I used to be a goodwill facilitator (aka corporate cheerleader). They range from little things you can do at the office to corporate retreats.

Since joining the HIGR team, while in Tampa I enjoyed dinner during the week with the guys. Dirty D takes everyone out for dinner every night after work as a way to say thanks. He is also taking all of us on a 7 day cruise in September. :thumbsup

We usually do that with the sales/marketing folks getting the paintball guns and the programmers getting 22's :thumbsup

We have a corporate membership to one of the local golf courses. Any manager can take 3 people at a time and play. There are no limitations on it.

MayorsMoney is more like a family than job, we on a regular basis have Bar-B-Ques, Dinners, Chartered Fishing Trips, Beers on the Beach, or just hanging out together... :pimp

Albert -

What to do to keep staff happy? It's a state of mind for managers/owners that can never go away - this concept of caring for employees. They are a company's single most important and valuable asset/investment.

We're not big fans of staff turn over. Well motivated & respected employees produce great work and don't have to feel that a specific job or the working environment are oppressive.

Investing company time and money can be done on so many levels. All the examples from the other companies who posted above are awesome - they reflect the fact that each employer can create a specific atmosphere, rather than just make a general effort to maintain morale.

As a service company, we are betting everything on the concept of high-touch client care. The only way we can have that happen continuously is if every single person in the organization feels connected to the greater company cause.

Shorter answer - do what it takes, all the time!

Oh, and I left something out amongst the plethora of things we LionDollars kiddies already get .....

Ben and Phil are soccer tragics, so every A-League soccer season, they get a corporate box at the big local stadium and every home game for the season 10 of us trudge along for a night of sport, beer and finger food, again, all part of the deal.

Phoenix came to a game his first day downunder last year.

Life is VERY good.

:winkwink: :thumbsup :1orglaugh :pimp
