My sister was a RA at West AJ Hall when she was at VA Tech
I talked to my sister today immediately after I learned about the massacre at VA Tech. The reason I called her was to make sure no one she knew was a victim as she had graduated from VA Tech. When I called her the details about the whole nightmare were very sketchy and no one really knew what had transpired I had forgotten she was an RA at West AJ Hall when she was at VA Tech. She loved VA Tech so much she stayed in the area for 8 years after she graduated from college.
I made a least ten visits to VA Tech over the years. We raised a lot of hell, so much in fact that my chapter of Phi Kappa Sigma was banned from participating in our annual Skulls Classic Basketball Tournament after I started a fight at our chapter house there. I remember another trip to VA Tech I went on for my sister's 21st birthday, we got so wasted that my friend who went down with me passed out in a snow bank. Another time a girlfriend and I almost got arrested at a football game for smuggling in booze.
The reason I am sharing my funny, at least to me, stories about VA Tech is so that people can reflect on what a great time and fun experience VA Tech University has been for tens of thousands of people. I hope and pray that in the near future people will think of VA Tech for what it was known as before this massacre happened at, a University with great academics and a fantastic football program and rising basketball powerhouse.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all those families who lost their loved ones today. Nothing will ever be able to bring back those innocent people. Let us hope that University's across this nation learn from this experience and take measures to ensure that nothing like this ever happens again.
