I may be a little biblical dense and of course since gods like omnipotent and all knowing it would be a little pointless.

During genesis there should only be god, no son and holy spirit right? Since there was no Christ yet and no ascension either?

Christ and the Holy Spirit are God. God is Christ and the Holy Spirit. They were never "created" they just were.

Well there has to be at least SOME truth to these ancient texts.

It's just that texts like these make me wonder if we were created by a whole group or race of people, not just one single creator.

The father, son & holy spirit explanation is okay I guess. I believe "someone" or "something" indeed did create us somehow, and that Jesus Christ was probably involved somehow... but a "holy spirit?" lol, that is the only ridiculous part. What exactly is a "holy spirit?" It's all just speculation, but I still doubt God would say "our" image...

Genesis is purported to be a historical record of the beginings of life on earth and is perhaps one of the best known stories in circulation, even today, and yet nobody really knows where this tale came from or what it really means.

However there are striking similarities between much of what's written in Genesis and the much earlier "The Hymn to the Aton" of the Egyptian Pharaoh Akhenaton, and when we consider that much of Judaism clearly has it's roots in Egypt and on the life of this important Egyptian Pharoah then for a better understanding of this enigmatic document it is to ancient Egypt we must look for answers, however if we re-evaluate Genesis in this new light then it quickly becomes apparent that it has very little to do with the begginings of life on earth.
