Are There Any Rules As To How Fat An Ice Hockey Keeper Can Be In The NHL ??

I'm watching the Pittsburgh game just now, and i kinda thought "why don't they just put the fattest ass out there they can find in those tiny goals?!?!"

You know I had that exact same thought last night while watching the game. What's to say you can't get a sumo wrestler to just sit there in front of the net and take up as much space as possible.

It's something i'd really like to find out.

I wonder what the biggest keeper ever in the NHL weighed in at...

I played against this guy who must have weighed 400 pounds. Took up a lot of the net but eventually he got tired and stopped going down for shots.

i thought about that my entire life - the NHL has put in rules about the size of the goalie's equipment and rules to stop the tricks that goalies used to alter their equipment has considered making the nets bigger - to increase the scoring because hockey was becoming like soccer on ice

goalies used to be very small guys, 5'5" to 5'9", if u look at old photos of goalies many of them were pudgy little guys. they were more fun to watch - then goalies got big, the equipment got bigger, and goalies figured out that it was no longer smart to move around so much, they all became butterfly style goaltenders who relied on their size, positioning, economy of movement and cheating to become almost unbeatable.

Patrick Roy was the biggest cheater in the game. With over sized jerserys to over sized eqiupment. Now he is the head of the NHL goalies.

Uh... are you sure about that? As far as I know, he's still co-owner and coach of the Remparts.

Yep, I've played against teams that had a massively fat goalie too. Myself and the rest of the gang of snipers on our team found holes anyway though and we put the puck between his rolls and found the mesh.

Fat isn't the answer, he still has to be able to get down to the ice to block certain shots. NHL snipers make it look easy but in fact they are firing that puck with eye of the needle precision accuracy, at 100 mph +.

I dont think any team sports have weight restrictions.

After Colorado he was the head cheese for goalies. I don't have a clue what he is doing now.

They should hire one of these 'world's fattest guys', you know the people who are grown into their sofas and can't fit out of doors etc.. just use a wheelcart before the game to haul them infront of the net and have him sit there.
