Unless I missed something, the story said they "found her body." Did someone kill her, or did she have an accident while hiking?

Gonzales said the fact that the American had been buried already indicated foul play. according to the news this afternoon: Senior Superintendent Pedro Ganir, Ifugao province police chief, said they are looking at two angles in Campbell's death. He said Campbell could have been robbed or raped before being murdered. Campbell face has been beaten repeatedly with big bamboo trunks. Campbell, 40, arrived in the Philippines in 2005 and had been working as an English teacher at the Divine Word College in Legazpi City in Albay province since October 2006. She previously taught at a public school in Donsol in nearby Sorsogon province, said Nora Gallano, assistant dean of the Divine Word College of Liberal Arts. The American was described as a kind, intelligent and dedicated volunteer who can fluently converse in Tagalog. A former freelance journalist for The New York Times, she also volunteered for the American Red Cross following the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks on the US, which led her to sign up for the US Peace Corps. Campbell described her adventures, learning, discoveries and experiences as a volunteer and teacher in the country in her blog titled "Julia in the Philippines." |

Condolences to her family :( |
Life is so unfair sometimes. She was there to help and did not deserve what may have happened to her.

Now THAT was a person that deserves to be called a hero... that term is thrown around so much these days that it has lost much of its meaning, but she is a true hero.
|
I hope they find the dogs that did that to her.
RIP, this world is just nuts. |
