american idol

I think it's so funny how american idol is doing this great thing of giving all of this money to charity, and then they charge 99 cents per call or whatever and then give 10 cents per call or whatever. It's like the fans paid for it not them. Ok then the argument is well they normally would make that money on the show that week and kept the 99 cents. Well that's true, but if they don't vote any one off this week, than they just threw an extra show in there and actually made money of the whole scheme. Clever marketing.

people say paula didn't even show up for things etc.

Any charity is good charity if it helps people in need.

I agree. Money feeds the entertainment industry and there will always be questionable ways they do things. But if they make an effort to give back to the needy people .... well thats what counts.

Some help is better than no help.

I am all about giving back to charity, you aren't understanding my post
had they voted someone off, then you could say they used up" a good week" that they would have made the whole 99 cents and really lost money so that it got sent to charity.

They didn't vote anyone off, so they are going to go do the same amount of weeks to make the money had they not came up with this idea

so they invented an extra week
kept probably 90% of it, then gave 10% of that back.

What if they had a different idea next week and gave to another charity and you thought they would vote someone off then they didn't

see what I mean?

They raised over 30 million dollars for something positive and good to help people. Way to go American Idol. Good Job!

Where are they getting an extra week from when they are voting off two people next week?

And the numbers you call on American idol are toll free, it's when you send a text message that you have to pay. And that money does not go to the TV show, it goes to AT&T for providing phone service.

If you called me on the phone right now and we spoke for an hour and you got a phone bill for 3 dollars, you don't pay me :)

And the 10 cents per call was sponsored by exxonmobil, they said they would give 10 cents per call for up to 50 mil calls.
