Laker Game Tonight....
You guys think Kobe and the Lakers are going to survive tonights game :thumbsup or are the Suns going to finish them off at home :( ???
|
Kobe will score 45 but lakers will lose by 6. Suns cover -4 spread
|
Lakers don't have a chance.
|
Lakers will get dominated again tonight. Suns are just too strong.
|
The Suns will beat The Lakers in 4 straight.
|
Kobe is nothing without Shaq. They will get blown out.
bball is a team game and the Lakers will always lose with that ball hog. |

THey need to trade away all that garbage and get some real players. Hell it took them the whole season to realize smush parker was crap....

It's not Kobe's fault he's playing with a bunch of Bench players at best! Seriously! tell me one player on the Lakers besides Kobe that would start on any of the other playoff teams... And if you say Lamar then your a scrub and obviously haven't consistently watched him play. |

Kobe puts up 50, they don't win. Kobe puts up 20 and spreads the ball, they don't win. Kobe isn't the problem, the rest of the team is. They don't have a stable starting center or point guard, the bench is weak. Its a one man show. Bring in Garnett to give Kobe some solid support and give Farmar the stable starters slot and the Lakers may actually become a team. |

nothing without shaq, not NOTHING. there is a big difference. :2 cents: serioulsy can you read? where did i say he is not an amazing player? no where. i stated the fact the lakers are going no where without shaq and will get blown out. i play bball and i have played on teams where one guy constanstly handles the ball and shoots the ball, in bball you need to spread it out. how is it that shaq goes over the miami and they win the championship? and who did the lakers win with? Shaq! lakers are going no where fast, and a big man like Garnett will not fit, Kobe is to big of a baby and i do not see the top big men wanting to play with him. |

Totally agree with you on this one Rob! Hands Down, Kobe is the best player in the NBA!!! It all has to do with the lack of skills the rest of the team has. If we had about 2-3 more solid players on the team - they would be kicking some major ass right now!! |
Quote:
Anyway, there's no reason to argue because obviously we agree. Shaq is amazing, hands down. Look at Miami's record without Shaq with Wade versus with Shaq without Wade. Miami is another team with a lot of problems, without Shaq they would be nothing. The Bulls are taking them out. For the Lakers to be a competitive team they can't have one Kobe and a bunch of hacks, thats what they have. |

but saying that, we agreed on shaq is a dominant force, alot of people hate on shaq but he is a beast and is that extra factor in the Lakers and Miamis championships. as posted above (not by you) alot of people think shaq is a "scrub" but fail to see that the lakers need him. i just do not see the lakers going anywhere fast, i cant see how anyone really could. |
kobe is the man...he can score with the best of them..and excellent defender..but unfortunately no second or third option in LA...maybe elton brand for the clippers..hehe...
i think the lakers won't win a game in this series... |
Kobe is arguably the best all around player in the league.
His ability to score at will and drop 50 + points makes them dangerous if it was only a one game series. However in a series format, against perhaps the best Suns team to date, it will not matter if he scores 100. |
I think they still have a chance.
|
Cut them some slack this is a young team that had one of the worst seasons for injuries I have ever seen.
They have a great team. They need to toss smush parker out with the trash, shave capt. cavemans head and get healthy. Other then that all is well in Laker land. :) BTW I like B. Cook too but my gut says he will be gone next year as well. As for the game tonight they have to play near perfect to win. Kobe will have to shoot 55% or better. Stop the suns layups let them shoot outside that is their only chance. |
Quote:
Yes he is trash. Get rid of him. I think they will win tonight, but they will definitely lose the series. Phoenix is even better this year with Amare and also Barbosa. I think Barbosa sparked the turnaround in the series last year when Bell was suspended. The dude is awesome. Kobe's teamates cannot play and knock down shots. He has tried that... Kobe needs to go on a scoring explosion to win and hope a couple other players are having a good night. |
suns will make it again with easy baskets
|
kobe is the greatest player of all time, but not even jordan could win a playoff series without pippen, a solid bench and a group of great shooters.

No doubt Kobe is a great player, but he is no Jordan. I guess we will just have to wait and see where he stands when his career is over. I would have loved to see them play against each other. |
Quote:
and might i add i'm quite sure jordan has a better scoring avg. than kobe. |
Unfortunately, I think the Suns are gonna destroy them. But I will still watch in agony :(
|
Suns by 12 points :thumbsup

I admire your passion as a Laker fan, but you gotta take off the Kobe blinders. Try for once to disassociate yourself from the Lakers and look at things objectively. Saying Kobe is a better scorer than Jordan and equivalent is completely laughable at this point in his career. Kobe has a career 24 pt scoring average vs Jordan's 30 pt average. He's got 19k total pts vs Jordan's 32k. Keep in mind that Kobe got a head start by coming out after high school and Jordan also lost time playing baseball. Kobe needs another 5-6 years at a 30pt average per year just to catch Jordan in total points. The great thing about basketball is that we have the abililty to measure 99% of a players contribution on the court through stats. Jordan leads Kobe in every statistical career average. Jordan has higher career rebound, assist, steal and block averages and fewer turnovers/game. Jordan has a career 50% shooting average while Kobe is at 45% for his career. That single stat alone tells anyone who knows the game who the better scorer is. At this point, on paper its really not that close and certainly not a fair comparison until Kobe has finished his career. I am by no means a Jordan jocker and agree with you partly in that his brand marketing has kept his name at legendary status. If Kobe can put in another 5-6 solid years you might be able to make the statements you made today. I'm so tired of people trying to compare those in the middle of their careers to those who are out of the game, just wait. |

Just out of curiosity, how old are you? I'm getting the overwhelming feeling you didn't follow the NBA closely in the 80's. I can assure you without hesitation, that Jordan shot over 2 guys and drained them hundreds of times more than Kobe has. You must not be familiar with the supporting cast Jordan had to deal with his first five years in the league. More help defense, are you out of your mind? Oh yes, those dominating intimdators the Bulls had of Cartwright, Wennington and Longley, vs Kobe having Shaq. Hell, Kwame Brown would have been a defensive upgrade to anything the Bulls had clogging up the middle. |
Quote:
I'm 30. I meant over 2 guys from anywhere. I know early on Jordan didn't have much help, that's why I was comparing him to Kobe now, having to do all the work and scoring a lot, but not winning much. I'm talking about the help from the championship level team of the Bulls. Put Kobe on Jordan's championship level team and you would probably get the same result or better. They are pretty even IMO. Kobe is a better scorer, Jordan is a better defender. I think Jordan had more help longer though, which resulted in more championships. It's really hard to compare both. I'm just tired of hearing Jordan is the best cuz a bunch of people say so and Kobe isn't even close, even after what he has accomplished. Jordan didnt win a championship till he was Kobe's age and Kobe's got a lot of time left and 3 championships and a lot of accolades already. |
I'd like to argue more, but it's game time! Oh yeah, if the Lakers lose this series, I'm rooting for the Suns. They are a great team, but Lakers come first!
|
Quote:
Even Phil Jackson, who knows both players better than anyone says that its not fair to compare them right now because Jordan has achieved much more both individually and team wise. If Kobe tears his ACL tonight and decides to retired next year, would you still be saying Kobe had a career equivalent to Jordans? Of course you wouldn't, Kobe isn't even in the top 50 all time scorers while Jordan is in the top 5. Stop all of the stupid "what if" comparisons, stick to the stats and see if you can back up your statements after Kobe is in the league another five years. |
w00t w00t!!
Only down 2-1 now, should be a great game 4 on Sunday :thumbsup |
Quote:
He still doesn't get it, Jordan avg. SIX more pts. per game than kobe, but he keeps saying kobe is a better scorer :disgust |
