We are currently NOT taking any of your traffic. No foreign redirection. You keep your 404. No headers or Footers.

We just need some folks to try it out see what they think post their response. Like I say this is CURRENTLY totally free bandwidth.

I will let you know as soon as our revenue model is implemented. Meaning the day footers or whatever are added, you'll know...

The thing about freehosts...is the name is beguiling...we all gotta make money some how. And we're hoping that in the trade off we meet somewhere in the middle...where happiness and profits are found.

I would think after getting fucked by so many it would have ended with so many recent hyosts being shut down for mistreatment of access and spam.

Fletch, you'd be surprised. I used a freehost to do some link pop experiments and got some really cool results...

Again its all about a trade off...you may not use them but their out there and some are better than others.

Think you scared off a bunch of prospective users with that line. Surely, your host will end up being black listed on TGP's and link sites if you eventually start doing that.

Can somebody tell me what's the fuzz about 404 traffic? Doesn't having 404-traffic mean that your site is fucked up, so ideally you should have zero 404-traffic?

If you really think so, please point all your 404 traffic to one of my domains.
I can generate a fuckload of 404 traffic - without deleting/cheating - in a short period of time. You'd be surprise what happens on a clean site.


HOAX - what the fuck possessed you guys into making xxx.com a freehost? And why even touch a freehost? If you need a big fat tax right off, please wire transfer the funds to me and call it consulting fees. It will be far more painless.

I know that I have some 404-traffic (and I'm still not sure what to do with it), but I thought it's just because I'm lazy and haven't checked all my links...

Steve, xxx.com is manythings in addition to now a freehost. we run another very successful, very stable long term freehost. Its had maybe a few hours downtime in about...5 years...It works for us and our webmasters as well. We started this one with a few different ideas in mind.


Bash, the front page of xxx.com would have no affect on the freehost whats so ever...404's do not redirect there, typing in xxx.com is about the only way a surfer would end up there...I don't see how this would have any bearing on tgp's banning us.

Yeah - you might not re-direct traffic at the moment (in order to grow), but your FAQ page clearly states "requests other than those in U.S. English will generate 404 errors and possible page redirection" - GFY! - I don't sign up with a host who does these shitty re-directs - quickest way to get blacklisted almost everywhere :ak47:

I believe the point here is not so much taking real 404's, or adding headers and footers, but the redirecting part. That will get people using your service blacklisted just about anywhere.

Again we are not doing anything of the sort at the moment and I'm currently pushing for a different strategy...

our headers and footers would be 5 pics a piece for a total of ten pics...I think you can make a clickable jpg...I thought I saw that here before...or they may be on an html page with links to our paysite...nice clean neat...

Again this is not set in stone...nothing is, I don't make the calls...I'm asking people to check us out and help us debug the fucker. And in the mean time tell us what they want in a freehost.

As I've always said, freehosts may not be for you...many people will never go back once they paid for hosting. And conversely many people pay for hosting and still use freehosts for some of their sites.

If you don't use freehosts and you never will again...why come in here and give me shit, other than the fact this is GFY and its the hip thing to do?

I'm very upfront about everything I do...as I've stated before...I ain't gonna lie to anyone...never have.

There are many ways in which to make a freehost profitable, the redirection of foreign traffic being one.

If this one goes that way its because no one asked for a different option. And again...this is a beta test thang...I have a few webmasters trying things out...(THANKS GUYS!)...and they're giving me feedback...so hopefully it makes a difference.

But as always the day our model is decided upon...everyone will know. So fuck around with it until then...if it ends up blowing goats...what have you lost?
