The Pirate Bay Is Much Larger Than The Hun...

Proof
http://alexa.com/data/details/traffi...epiratebay.org

Some of you complainers are just hysterical!!! Ohhh look xyz.com allows traffic from thepiratebay... You should terminate them because they are bad for the industry blah blah blah...

Would you terminate the hun if he was sending you 100+ joins a day?

You fucking guys WISH you were in the same leagues as these guys... Do you have any clue how large these guys are and how much traffic they can send

I'll tell you man, GFY better clean house soon because all these dumbasses around here are really getting on my nerves... They are absolutely CLUELESS on how big business works!!

End Rant/

It's also quite amazing how well the torrent traffic converts on adult/dating sites, even given the fact that there's a ton of free movies on them. Something to ponder.

Sly 04-28-2007 11:59 PM

It doesn't bother you that the prices of ad spots have the potential of dropping due to the popularity of "illegal" sites? Sure, shit happens and one must adapt... but one would think you cared just a *little* bit.

Nope it's not ok to steal, however the companies being stolen from need to protect their media in a more aggressive manner. Or at least be able to monetize the traffic that is looking to steal their content.

Quite a few large media companies are cutting deals with the torrent sites as we speak.

Well depending on size of file, connection etc it can take days sometimes to get a full file so I guess some folks just get too damn horny.

datatank 04-29-2007 12:02 AM

Are you selling ads on it yet?

I make a ton a money from this kind of traffic...

Actually no I don't... There is no money in this at all, move along :winkwink:

it's not surprising that dating sites or live cam sites do well with them actually :2 cents: Adult paysites would be surprising tho.. are you saying that they convert well too?

The TGP sites out there need to get with the times quite honestly, they need to change their business models and start to compete against the new wave of "youtube pornsites" and torrents... The erosion of traffic has been very evident in the past 2 years since the introduction of p2p large file sharing thru torrents. Fuck all you have to do is look at alexa for confirmation of that...

Obviously I care about making my site owners money, however sometimes people need a bit of a kick in the ass to realize hey I better do something here before I lose more of my marketshare. A good example of this was 4 years ago when movie posts got introduced into the marketplace... Most TGP's either added movie galleries as well or became almost entirely movieposts sites...

If you're not willing to move and adapt to the trends you will be a dinosaur very quickly... Man look at all the old paysite companies if you need further proof...

I wish dude!! I met the owners of thepiratebay at the last ad-tech in new york (i think i still have their card in my office). They were very pleasant and were very saavy business men... I was actually really shocked, I imagined a couple of young guys that dressed up like metal heads or computer nerds.

I believe they use a few different ad companies to handle their banner and text link inventory. I'm sure the banners are on a very high CPM and the text links are on some crazy CPC basis.

Tryme 04-29-2007 12:19 AM

People forget, Thehun and Al4a used to link directly to avs sites back when they started, but now they are ok sources of traffic.

How times change!

So to put this in a different form. If your house gets robbed it's ok for pawn shops to turn around and sell the stuff. I mean after all you should have had better security at your house right?

If your car was to be stolen would it be ok for a chop shop to sell off the car for parts? No harm no foul because after all you should have had a better alarm system right?

Doctor Dre 04-29-2007 01:36 AM

TheHun has a very low alexa ranking compared to the traffic it gets... prolly lots of forgein traffic or surfers without the alexa bar.

I wouldn't bet too much money on who's sending the most joins a day, there were some public figures about what the pirate bay is making and I don'T think it was close to what hun was making.

Brujah 04-29-2007 02:03 AM

Why not only make a post about it, but start a whole new thread about it? You're practically saying, "Fuck you Xpays!", "Fuck you Homegrown!", "Fuck you Playboy!" (and at least a dozen other program owners and content producers) just to support a Torrent site? What do you care if someone complains about it? You don't run PirateBay, and someone complaining about it isn't hurting you. So why draw the extra unnecessary attention to it rather than just keeping that opinion private?

Roald 04-29-2007 02:25 AM

according to Alexa we are even bigger than the hun.

Jakke PNG 04-29-2007 02:48 AM

I know 2 people of very big torrent sites and I know also their traffic volume. If you guys think they are just some thieves anywhere in the world you are wrong !!! They are here and post about the same shit as you do ! If you don´t want to support all that shit, kick them all (sponsors, boards, etc) ! Not tomorrow, not in 1 hour...DO IT NOW ! That´s it !

do you remember, how much it was for pirate bay?

Average thehun income per day from paid spots should be something like this:
1 spot = 650 USD
2-5 spot - 4x 350USD = 1400
5-15 spot - 10x 250USD = 2500
16-20 spot - 5x 200USD = 1000

so from paid galleries 5550 daily, not counting banner spots and other types of income. 30 days x 5550= cca. 166k USD a month.

Marshal 04-29-2007 04:24 AM

They are sending 1.5-5k sales per day! A sponsor could completely live just from their sales... Do you understand some guys' moves now? :)

Still? I don't think it was funny at any point. Apparently business is business as long as you make a buck, no matter who you shit on while you do it.

Almost sounded like DH has been negotiating with torrent sites to sell ads, and now tries to make the upcoming announcement less 'harsh'. I hope this isn't the case, but it's the only reason I can think of when someone would defend a torrent site.

I'd complain. People still share the shit, there's just MORE of the sites when they can make money out of it. Some of the big rapidshare/p2p boards, trackers and sites don't even try to make money.. they just share because they want to. 'It's not stealing if we just make a copy and share it'.. if you know where I'm going.

He already stated in this thread he profits from this traffic.

Try to look for the amount of traffic which they get and then do some maths... :)

So you're saying we all need to start stealing big, since not stealing at all or stealing small isn't profitable, right?

If you can't beat them, join them.

So we all start thieving torrent sites, promote AFF, and make more money than we do selling porn that surfers can get for free. Then thepiratebay makes less, ratios go nuts, everyone is happy.

Perhaps if we get enough people pushing AFF we can make the ratios drop so bad it hurts and forces them out. Then we go about our original business... but how many will keep their torrent sites live? hmm...

I think it's the other way around. My guess is that PirateBay makes loads more cash than any TGP period.
