WAREZ?? Anyone?
Back in the BBS days (early/mid 90's)... I ran a dialup board, and did have a warez / hpa section... Warez sites were some of the first sites I visited... I never set one up tho..
Anyone here got the balls to admit they run one of the more modern warez sites?? I'm not knocking them, they are great for traffic, and mostly based on bullshit = easy money. Who is behind easywarez etc?? I am pretty sure split was behind t50, but can't be sure.. Dunno, Fill me in - I'm bored today :) |
bump - I love history lessons - bump. |
no idea, i use to courier for dod, prophecy, scum, and pwa.
ever call park central? was a 16 line ringdown bbs |
warez? what's that?
|
Warez+Torrents=Pirates
|
1 thing is for sure, I have no idea how warez sites can survive with torrents being out there like they are now!
|
I used to own planetddl.com but sold it, I've been owning warez sites for years but now I don't own any, starting porn
|
I'm fairly certain the owners of easywarez aren't on this forum, I know who they are though
|
I was one of respected member of redratforum.com which was class in his time.but we didnt "deal"porn.Only apps and games and little movies.

T50 Ben
Fullversion Rampage Easywarez 2 bros run it both are losers Liquid Warez Smitty 90% of the people on this board used to run warez sites but i wont mention their names. :1orglaugh |
I had a DL list up for a while, along w/ brute forced PW sites, etc... Back when it was easy to BF a login page, and people were much less intelligent about password selection. Channel #xxxpasswords was a good resource for this stuff. :)
I remember Knightmare's site, Silicon Toad's Infinity Void, Minerva's Hideout and a slew of other warez / hack / crack sites from the early years. I used to chat over @ Pancreas for a while. But when a child grows up, he puts away childish things. |

I don't know how warez works, but I got photoshop from a site called pumawarez seven years ago.
|
I used to have two warez sites back in like 99 lol, never really made any good money though
|
Most warez people are now running huge TGP's Sities.
|
I used to help Op a few boards in the 407 back in the late 80's/early 90's, but I only know of a handful that are still around these days.
I gave up on all that many years ago, and moved on to other things. |
You want warez? Jon Clark will hook you up :thumbsup (I'm joking jon)
|
there is no money in warez

I used to be in the underground hiphop mp3 scene. We exposed TONS of underground artists back in 97-2000' and they're still cashing in on that popularity.
That was back before everyone and their cat had every bit of music at their fingertips on torrents, youtube, myspace etc etc. |

rwarez.com was my first, then I moved it to fullversion.com - rampage is still my handle on most boards. You must be old school to remember smitty and me. I wonder what Smitty is up to these days. |

the trick back then, perhaps still so, was to password lock the .zip you downloaded and the pass you needed was on the 4th line 4th word in that line, with as header, Riskeymail4free Welcome`s email. $1 per signup, around 80-200 $ day on a DDL portal with 10-20K traffic a day. Warez is only there to milk out on a sneaky way the adult industry since day 1.

What he said

Old thread but is old school talk :)
I never had run a warez site, but I may know many of who had also a BBS before. My Group been "busted" in 1994 then most of us became good guys (just some continued cracking nintendo and other console stuff). Was before of internet ftp and irc warez scene, our BBS's was mostly running Amiexpress, forgot the name of the other soft for Ms-Dos, had a dozen in a few countries. We was good mates of Razor 1911 and Trsi (when was still 2 groups Tristar + Red Sector) and all the folks at USA BBS's Headquarters (Supplex, Silents, forgot mostly). It was fun for a kid to be there, a list of BBS's of the time refreshes my memory:trsi1guide.txt I was really a cracker and trainermaker more than a sysop, my old intros code is easy to find in youtube, that's 1988-1993 stuff, good old 8 and 16bit assembly :) Disclaimer: I am posting this since 1) the newest crack is 20+ years ago so prescription period barred by law prosecution and 2) soft cracked is abandonware and its authors unlikely to hate anymore. |
To be honest, the only reason that my site ever dominated t50 and t100 was because back in 1996, Smitty and me used to chat in ICQ and he told me that I would never be better than him and that I was incapable of knocking him out of the number 1 spot. It was simply a challenge to me. Of course, he moved on from warez into the adult industry, like most people who were dominating warez in those days. I ended up diversifying into "free web hosting" sites and then starting a company that threw big raves. In retrospect, the adult industry would have been a much more lucrative choice considering how much money there was to be made. In any case, if someone has smitty's current email address, I did want to catch up with him out of posterity.
