First Time Bank Loan - Max/Min Amount?

Quick question - my girlfriend is thinking about taking out a bank loan. We're young and have no credit established. Does anyone have a rough idea of the maximum/minimum a bank will loan to her? Would it help if I could cosign with her, or does it not matter since I have no credit rating?

Thanks,
c-lo

For what?

Oops, omitted some of the most important info.

She was involved in a minor car accident and needs to pay for some damages to another woman's vehicle.

Thanks,
c-lo

You might not be able to get an unsecured loan from a traditional bank.

http://www.bankrate.com will give you a better idea.

Just a friendly word of advice - don't co-sign for anyone you're not related to by blood and even then triple think it. :2 cents:

umm... was she driving with no insurance? because even if you hit someone and you're at fault your insurance will pay out to them

Depends on if she has a job or not, any assets, and what she is borrowing the money for. No can answer your question with the info you gave.

Well I hate to end the thread like this, but I'm just gonna take a risk and pay for it myself. I'm figuring up interest and it's not looking good.

Thanks for the attempt to help, though.

Dude... That is what car insurance is for... If you don't have insurance you are an idiot and an asshole. What if that other person died? You going to pay a $1,250,000 lawsuit for your "girlfriend" too?

Tool...

Hey V Rocks, try not to be a cock when you don't understand the situation.

She has insurance, but it wasn't her car. There's a lot to it and I'm not planning to break it all down here. Her car is insured, so is mine, so was the other one...so don't assume you know.

Yeah, if you have the cash, pay it like that. Don't mess with loans if you don't have to, especially if you're young, because you'll end up never paying it off and will be saddled with a bigger debt later on. Good luck, dude. Hope your girl's OK.

c-lo 05-02-2007 07:23 PM

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, falcao. Thanks for wishing her well...luckily no injuries were sustained to anyone.

For clarification purposes, I totally agree with you. I just didn't appreciate you skipping past assessment and straight into attack mode, ya know?

Well the lady said her insurance would cover it but she had to file a police report to run it through her insurance. Somehow charges were pressed against my g/f even though the lady says she didnt want them to be (lie?). We were gonna just be stuck with the deductable, which was fine with us but since charges were filed, she wants complete reimbursement for repairs.

That's not even all of it. It's a simple situation that turned into a huge mess and I'm about to just cough up 5k just to get this out of our hair. It hurts to see my girl so constantly stressed out.

tell her to eat a dick. tell her to call her insurance company. unless they're "Billy Bob's Done Broked it Insurance CO" they'll cover it. that's the point of insurance man. Her policy will cost more from then on though.

Okay, thanks for the help, man. I'll post back when this shit's all settled. :1orglaugh @ billy bob's
