Why I rarely go to see movies in the theater

The MPAA fucks movies up.

I prefer to watch the Unrated DVDs and see the movies how they were meant to be seen by the person who made the movie, not the movie that some Secret Movie Police feels is ok for me, I like to think for myself.

Plus buying the DVD can actually be cheaper than the ticket. DVDs come out faster now because studios know that they make more on DVD sales than ticket sales in some cases.

carry on.

Yeah...they come out so much faster than they used to!

i also enjoy not being bothered by others in the theater, and not having to miss a couple of minutes if i have to go to the bathroom. :)

I couldn't agree with you more :thumbsup

Tickets to the theatre cost $7-$10 and when it comes out on DVD and Blockbuster buys a ton, they then sell them for Buy 3 for $20 deals all day. You get Uncut and Unrated DVD's for cheap.

I like to tatch the movies in theaters and of course i am buying a DVD's

Some movies are just meant to be seen in theaters with other people....it takes them to another level.

I have some issues with Unrated DVDs. I hate when they take a PG13 movie and add in a few "fucks" or 3 seconds of extra footage and label it Unrated.

Danas1 05-03-2007 08:14 AM

i like to look movies at home, because the tickets is expensive

Yeah what she said. I remember going to see kung pow enter the fist. It was a late night showing and for some reason everyone smelled like a fucking hobo in there. The strange thing was it happened at a nice theater that I've been too plenty of times. :Oh crap

I dont know if I like going to the movies it has been so long. The last movie I saw in the theater was Harry Potter 2, aren't there like 5?? The reason being is because I have 2 kids theres just not enough time in a day.

I 100% agree that some movies should be seen in the theaters. Those I will go see there. As far as your Unrated issues, well those "few fucks" are what made it be R or NC17 and if the studio is shooting for PG-13 or R they needed to take them out, a simple 3 seconds of a film can change it's rating. Unrated simply means it is the original movie before it was sent to MPAA, it doesn't means it's going to be a titty fest.

Rent or Netflix Saw 3 Unrated and watch it with the commentary on, you will get a good idea of how much of that movie was chopped due to the MPAA, some of the reasons were pretty ridiculous, they talk about it a lot in the commentary.

There is a movie called This Film Not Yet Rated. It is all about the MPAA and how they rate movies. It's a pretty interesting documentary. the best part of the movie is when the guy calls the MPAA and finds out there made an illegal copy of his movie.

nice to be able to pause when you want and be in your own home.

If one were so inclined:

Netflix 3 at a time / month: $19.95
Computer with a dvd burner: taken for granted
100 pack of dvds: ~$30.00 / $0.30 per dvd

If you average 3 dvd's per week: 12 dvds per month at a total cost of ($19.95 + (12*$.30)) = $23.55 / month ... plus you get to keep the movies.
