I pick Mayweather, he's hungry and been wanting this for some time now. :pimp

"Golden Boy" De La Hoya
Six Division World Champion

vs

Mayweather by UD unless Oscar can pull a late KO with his power like in the Vargas fight

Aneros Josh 05-04-2007 08:07 AM

It's not going to be De La Caca that's for sure

Mayweather by KO :)

D-Money 05-04-2007 09:12 AM

It's like this....

Oscar has fought some really tough battles against some all time greats. I give Oscar the edge IF it goes the distance. I don't think Mayweather has fought as many worthy opponents.

BUT, I think a fighter like Mayweather is supremely confident and has some unbelievable skills.

I give the edge to Mayweather. KO round 8.

Also, Mayweather is a member of my Players Ball club. He bought a table at the Ball in Vegas 2 years ago and almost came to the last one. He had it all set up to attend, Ice Cube was expecting him. Cube said to bring Mayweather backstage if I see him.

D$ rolls with champs. I've had 2 boxing champs and a UFC champ, a heisman trophy winner, a skate board champ and an Oscar Award winning leading man attend the Players Ball. Not to mention Lensman, Lars, RonC, Sweet T, J$tyle$ and Juicy.

Champs.

Mayweather!!! but lets see, dela joya is boxing icon. who knows!.

Mayweather will probably win... but I'm pulling for de la hoya.

Kevsh 05-04-2007 12:26 PM

I'm not a huge boxing fan, but from what I've seen of these two here's my take:

If it goes the distance, Oscar will look like he'd been in a war. He will take a LOT of hits and lose a decision.

If Oscar can catch him a few times early - so mr. uber-cocky knows he's actually in a fight - he could get a surprise KO. If Mayweather fends it off and sticks to his speed ... see my first paragraph.

I absolutely don't see Oscar going down, at least for the count, regardless.

Hopefully it will be a classic.

I cant believe Mayweather won.....all set up!

Dela Hoya had control of the fight so it was very disappointing he lost.

Mayweather vowed he is not going for a rematch if he losses so I guess
the judges didn't want this to happen.

tical 05-07-2007 12:01 AM

dunno why on earth dela hoya wasn't throwing any jabs, it had to be setup

You obviously don't know how boxing is judged and didn't watch most of it. Beeing agressive, in conrol of the ring and hitting the other guy's gloves hundreads of times dosen't score points nor do any damage.

Most of the power shots were landed by Mayweather, and his hit accuracy was probably something like 3x higher.

The split decision is actually a big surprise... and I hate Mayweather btw.

Different fights, different gameplans.

About the setup, well this is boxing, but De La Hoya was the underdog according to the bookies, and I'm fairly sure tons of people have put bets on Mayweather, it was pretty much a lock for most boxing fans.
