De La Hoya/Mayweather Recount???

News just said there's a big controversy
regarding the vote cards by the judges at the match.

According to the info, someone, a judge marked the card
wrong putting his vote in the opposite boxer's graph.

If so, it means a draw or overturn. Should be final
decision in half an hour.

:winkwink:

you're fucking around though right?

I don't think we've seen the same fight. It was very close and de la hoya was probably more agressive, but Mayweather was way more accurate.

De La Hoya was smiling after the fight. De La Hoya is a shrewd businessman. for all we know he got screwed on purpose so Golden Boy Promotions can cash in millions in the "World Awaits Part II."

now they say that the scorecards got mixed-up. I'd say De La Hoya now has convenient excuse for the loss while paving the way for a return match.

these big time promotions are just screwing the public big time.

MMA is all I can say. Real, unscripted, and sometimes the fighters make things happen in spite of what the promoters want. Meaning the best man wins, not the highest paid or promoted man. :2 cents:

He got screwed ? A boxing match is not judged on agressivity, but on points

Mayweather wins split decision over De La Hoya
Quote:

Both proud champions fought from the opening bell to the end of the final round, which finished with the brawl De La Hoya wanted all along. But it came too late to help De La Hoya, who lost four of the last five rounds on two scorecards, sealing his fate.
That's it folks.

I watched the fight.... IMO... it was a draw De la hoya was aggressive and trhew alot of punches but connected on less then Mayweather.. Mayweather threw less punches but connected on more hits but none were effective.. it could have gone either way and the results would have been fine... there will be a II fight they set it up....

I'd love to see another fight, watched it last night on PPV.

I'm way more into MMA now but this could make me a little more interested in boxing again.:2 cents:

Judges and decisions suck no matter the outcome. Leave it all in the fuckin' ring. :disgust

Nismo 05-06-2007 06:10 PM

Damn. Was hoping De La Hoya would beat his cocky ass.

Screaming 05-06-2007 06:58 PM

i thought la hoya was winning

MikeVega 05-06-2007 08:50 PM

I heard on the radio today that one of the cards had the wrong colored shorts next to their names. the colors were reversed and Oscar feels that judge may have been putting his #'s under the wrong fighter. the judge says he wasn't and even thou the colors were wrong he knew who he was scoring . I don't think there is any other way to decide but a rematch ;)

I thought the fight was very close but Mayweather did seem in better condition and was throwing a lot more punches . I would have liked to see Oscar win it but i think Mayweather squeaked this one out.

boxing lost another fan last night.

im so pissed at them for fixing another fight to drag to a rematch.

idiots.

xxxdesign-net 05-06-2007 09:00 PM

the second fight will be less popular.. people know that they wont see much again.. people want to see Floyd get beaten good and Oscar wont do that.. btw Oscar was NOT the top light middle weight... and neighter is Floyd now..

I score the fights myself, and came up 115-133 De La Hoya . . . and I hated scoring it in his favor because I don't like him at all.

About four rounds in I decided that Mayweather must be one of those guys that like to attack while making his opponent follow him around the ring. But initially, it made it look like Oscar was the aggressor . . . even though Floyd was throwing a lot more punches.

Based on that, I decided that if I had picked up on it earlier I may have given Floyd an additional round, which would have made it a draw.

There will be a rematch . . .even if I would love to see him retire.

It was in Las Vegas. When was the last fight that went to a decision that wasn't controversial?
