Making $ with RSS???

Hi
I am wondering, how you can make money with using RSS. I don't really understand that. An exact example would be great!
Thx

Bump to someone who can elaborate as well - we are about to release ours.. They make an excellent compliment to blog sites for automatically fed content etc.

You can make money with rss by producing your own rss feed either thru a standlone program or thru a blog.

All blogs produce a rss feed from the content posted to them. All you need to do is have visitors to your blog and, depending on the quality of your content, many will automatically subscribe to your rss feed.

Your posts will have your sponsor links in them and therefore your rss feeds will also have your sponsor links in them.

So you can make money from an rss feed by producing a top quality blog that alot of people visit - hope that helps.

Hi mrkrabs... a word on feeds !

I keep on hearing people claim they can make big bucks on RSS Feeds, however when asked they don't seem to understand the most basic aspects...

RSS/XML or ATOM/XML feeds are pre formated XML tags that some browsers and feed readers can display...

It is true that Blogs do use feeds, but it is important not to confuse the two...

Parsing your RSS, ATOM or straight XML feed(s) on your website will help to keep your site current and indexed by the search engines; this is what Blogs do to display their entries and why the search engines like them so much.

There is still the mater of Search Engine Optimization, but that is minor...

If you do not use a parser as do display your RSS-or-Atom.xml feed on your website(s); then if you are still trying to make your feed available you will need to link to it directly...

example

<a href="your-or-rss-atom-feed.xml">Your test feed</a>

( If your web browser supports xml parsing then you will see the content of the .xml file and if your web browser does not support xml parsing then you will get an error... either way you can sill use a feed reader...)

It is possible to have your website with the content of your feed(s) displayed and indexed, by the search engines and directories , but that is different from just having your feed.xml file(s) indexed !

To make money with feeds means that you have to have people looking at your content from the actual feed(s) then by clicking on a link from within your feed to product(s) and or service(s)

or

If you parsed such into your website as to make your contents within your feed.xml file available for viewing as to try to make a sale...

Websites being semi-static or Blogs will have more unique traffic then a plain feed.xml file on your site displaying simple text and graphics... Think about it !

So to wrap it up...

If you have traffic to a website and you want to link to feed(s) and if you want to make money off such feed(s) then you will need some reason for your surfers to click on that link... and remember they will see plain text and plain graphics unless you use a style sheet and even then you will have limits... This is why people are turning to Blogs over static websites...

Best of luck,
