Hiked in Zion this weekend *pics*

So, this weekend was friggin awesome. I was so proud. My friends drove from Vegas, made it to Zion, and camped out for a night. The first day we made it to Emerals Pools.

The hike was a moderate one, lasted about three hours total, and that's because we took the scenic way back. As if it wasnt scenic already :P

The next morning, we packed up, got everything in the car, and parked at the Visitor Center as we headed for Angel Falls. Now...this was the big hike. 5 hours, from start to finish you're going up about 1800ft. Let's just say it's not for anyone fearful of heights, or narrow climbs. Towards the top they even had chains to help you up. At the end though, the view was totally worth it. The weather was beautiful.

The trip itself was wonderful. It's nice to get out of town and get back to basics. A lot of positive energy on this trip, not to mention all the cool people I met on the way. I smile :)

I love Zion. Heading up there with my son in a couple weeks.

Did you check out the weeping mountain? It's absolutely stunning.

The hike up Angels Landing is amazing as well.

My grandparents used to live right outside the park and would go there all the time on summer vacation. Didn't get to see it so green though, looks awesome!

here's me acting like the Utah Travel Bureau.....

Just about everywhere in UT is amazing like that.. outdoors in UT can't be beat.... also try out Cedar Breaks, Brian Head, Moab (for Jeep or mountain biking people), West Desert and/or Salt Flats, any of the canyons from Provo to Brigham City, Park City, Vernal.....

Yes, I grew up there.... used to rock climb in Little Cottonwood (this is the canyon with Snowbird and Alta ski resorts). Beautiful country.... just can't live there.

Awesome Zoe! It's a lot greener than Red Rock. We go hiking most every weekend and I go occasionally during the week by myself for a few hours to get away from the computer. Almost got rimrocked trying to do Turtlehead peak via Calico Basin a couple weeks ago. It turned into a 12 hour hike from hell but was a great lesson on how not to get into trouble and we saw a bunch of bighorns.

I've been meaning to get up to Zion for quite a while now, your pics might have made my mind up. :thumbsup

I've rode my bike thru Zion several times but never hiked there. The roads and sceneray in Utah is awesome. I plan on going up there a few times this summer and probably stay in Torrey. Its much cooler up there than here in Vegas.

Wow it looks like Hikers Heaven
