What Education Do U Have And Did U Make Use of IT?

I know that many have veeeeery different professions and work in totally other areas (e.g. adult webmaster).

What's your education/profession and did you ever make use of it?

Talib Kweli verse made me laugh the other day..

"Kicked outta Brooklyn Tech, focusin on lookin fresh, bright kid, accepted to the schools that only took the best, so I bounced like a cheque, yeah without no hesitations, went to college then I left - that's when I got my education, still live with my regrets, Now how ill would I be with a degree, shit it's just a piece of a paper to me - A receipt!! One day I might go back.. Shit who am I kiddin, how could I live with such a stupid decision, got used to the prison that I built for myself, it's all real, true and living, so I'm rhyming to put food in the kitchen"

I graduated Summa Cum Laude from a large state University in NY state and have a a BS in Business Admin. I can't say I am using anything I learned in college in business, really. Life and workplace experience has taught me a lot more. I believe real education is self-education, and the skills that I have learned more recently as a adult, like video editing and encoding, photography, lighting, computer skills like the basics of graphic design in Photoshop and html are much more useful than any university degree.

Humpy Leftnut 05-11-2007 12:45 PM

I went to the store yesterday and tried to buy some peanut butter, but I couldn't remember my trigonometry and had to leave it on the shelf :/

Brad 05-11-2007 12:47 PM

BA in Political Science here. I suppose I am not directly using what I have learned in school, but then again going to university is more about life experience and having a good time and learning how to think...so in that sense I suppose I am using the degree.

jonesonyou 05-11-2007 12:52 PM

Everything I have learned has been from this board! (Industry Related)

Adult Site Traffic 05-11-2007 01:07 PM

I have a BS in equine repro (Animal Science). I did herd health management, artificial insemination (in mares), collecting and preparing and shipping cooled stallion semen, frozen bull semen and super-ovulating and freezing of embryos from bovine donors.

I don't breed cows, only flush and implant.

Yea, I made use of it ;)

I don't now.

Degrees in computers science and arts & photography with philosophy and international politics as options... but I mostly use what I've learned by experience, education here is a sad joke.

<--- Educamated.

I got the standard Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and I took every Sales, Marketing and Advertising course the business school offered. The professors that I had that came from real world business backgrounds taught us a lot about the "Real World" vs. what was written in the text books.

I also took some initiative and established a Marketing Internship program my senior year of college for the business school and got to travel with a manufacturer's rep for three months learning all I could about selliing.

So bottom line YES I have made very good use of my education so far.:)

BucksMania 05-11-2007 01:55 PM

I'm a college drop out (after the second year)

since they still dont study adult webmastering anywhere, i decided that its pointless to waste my time with something im probably never going to work

so im basicly self-educated :)

96ukssob 05-11-2007 02:10 PM

b.s. in psychology

was planning on going for the master/doc degree here in cali... but ive been a bit busy latey

AtlantisCash 05-11-2007 02:57 PM

i m still studying on Turkish literature and language, but i don't want this department actually, if i can find a good/acceptable distance education about computer engineering, i m thinking to drop this, i don't wanna be a teacher, so this department is only wasting my time.

Mr. Mojo Risin 05-11-2007 03:07 PM

I was a Biology major first time around and dropped out to do porno. Now I'm back in school studying Computer Science

I don't think I will use it for anything porn related.
