Windows XP or Vista???
 

Need to buy new laptop ASAP and dell has either one for new Inspirons. Any scoop on Vista?

I just got one with vista and it is the most annoying thing ever.
I turned off all the stupid warnings and it still warns me that the warnings are dissabled.

My new laptop has Vista. Didn't like it at first because of the learning curve but now I prefer it to any of my XP machines.

I got a new desktop recently with Vista Home Premium. There's been a few minor software compatibility issues and some changes that take getting used to, but I now prefer it to XP.

I use too many complex apps to upgrade to Vista anytime soon. I'll stick with XP for a while.

Vista sucks. They did fix a lot of the hardware plug in support issues you get with XP but the constant disruptive system alerts drive me insane!

DO NOT install Vista on anything EVER.

I have nearly zero problems with XP. Especially when dealing with Microsoft products, if it ain't broke don't fix it...

Vista flies on 2 gb of ram, with a 4 gb flash drive for readyboost.

I have Vista and XP but no clue what constant disruptive system alerts you are referring to.

Are you familiar with the word Allow?

Plus I think there's a secret plot to take down M$'s enemies 'cause my ITunes and Firefox have had more problems than ever.

I have two gigs of ram and a core duo pc and I find it 4 times slower to load apps. It is nice to get a warning every time a program tries to run in the background. I'm horrible about getting viruses. I called Dell to ask for XP, since I ordered it with XP and they sent it with Vista and they said their system shows my pc as preloaded with XP, so they think I'm lying lol.

tried to help a buddy with his vista desktop today and it was nothing but trouble

xp is mature and works well with all the applications, no need or desire for me to downgrade to vista

Vista is putting me off buying a new comp just now. And i do need one.

I know i could still buy one with XP, but i'm not sure i wanna do that, then have to change over soon enough anyway...

Scott, you won't have to change over for at least a year. Trust me on that one.

Vista sucks so bad I am even thinking of just making the switch to a Mac and giving away my brand new Sony Vaio to my 16 year old nephew.

For me to do that indicates major suck-a-tude.

Vista's great if you know what you're doing. Otherwise stick with XP, or get a Mac.

Really weird, but you hardly ever hear about Vista. Its like it died. XP is fine with me anyway.

Vista....a little bit of mac....a little bit of linux and all of windows plus hogs a lot on hardware....I think XP is becoming much better......

I just had to buy a new laptop .. and seriously... HUGE mistake getting one with Vista .. I went 2 years with out a crash on my last toshiba with xp pro .. and 3 weeks with this piece of shit HP duo core Vista and had 10 crashes easily .. this is seriously gonna be a long long year or two till they get all the bugs out and drivers available..

Wow, the results of this thread are overwhelming. How did Microsoft fuck up so bad?

XP for now. I see no reason to upgrade to Vista until my apps are no longer updated for XP, so maybe in two years or so I'll upgrade.

my xp pro runs perfecly. there's no reason for me to change and it's full of bugs anyway. i'll also wait a year or so
