in feedwordpress i put in some feeds , how do i get em to pull the feeds?

i use autpblogger pro on other domain and it does it automatically need to know on a test domain

Should be http://www.domainname.com/wp-content/update-feeds.php if you installed it there...

Here's the big changes in Wordpress 2.2:

One extra snag with the instant-upgrade plugin this time around, is that as the author states, it retains the original wp-config file. As a rule that is reasonable: it's what I do myself. However, this update has added a couple of extra lines to wp-config...

Whether it is vital to add them or only affects full functionality, I don't have a clue yet. Just be aware.

The good news is that I updated a test site which has near 50 plugins (basically everything clients ever ask to be installed): no glitches and so far everything seems to be working fine.

With that plug-in, does it take the new WP files from the Wordpress site or can you download the upgrade zip and it takes them from there?

Anyone have the instant update plugin zip or just files? I cannot get the ones on the site to open for some odd reason... My winzip and winrar do not seem to want to open it but work fine on anything else...

Does widgets supported in the core mean that they'll show up in any themes or just those that have been widgetized? Or does it just mean that it's part of the package and not something just have to add to the install?

Have you checked out Wp-o-matic? Way better than feedwordpress.

the problem with those updates is that you can't ever know whether your plugins will work with new version :(

Tried that too... and it gives me no love still... I have all four on my desktop now and the newest versions of winzip and winrar and got nada from the files... always says its corrupt... :mad:

the only problem is the feedwordpress plugin does work right with it

let me add though, they get a LOT of money donated from some pretty important people...some of the largest and most busy sites on the net are using wordpress as their blogging platform

I hear you, that is always one of my worries.

They do normally list the plugins that work, don't work & might work, but it isn't updated for the new version straight away.

One of the features of the 2.2 is that they will not allow you to activate plugins or edit a file that will break your blog. That's good but you really need to know before you upgrade.

I'm not clear on the formal relationship between the different entities involved, but Matt Mullenweg (WordPress creator) is listed on the Automattic site (although not on KnowNow).

A couple of years ago there was some fairly mild criticism of Matt for some questionable SEO tactics he was apparently using on a site of his own, so he has had and may still have other irons in the fire.

If all else fails and the WP folk do ever look for a payday, WordPress wouldn't be the first freeware to be sold with a huge pricetag (eg ICQ $20-some million). Apart from WordPress itself (used by Yahoo, Harvard University, New York Times, Le Monde etc), wordpress.com reported 400,000 blogs a while back. I imagine the total is more now.

Hell!! I think there is 400,000 blogs by people on this board alone! Esp with people like jace kicking them out like there is no tomorrow...
