Well not really.

Enough paper junk on his desks that could have used 10 trees.

Man, I thought my office was a mess... must be the sign of a busy man :)

chaze 05-21-2007 10:31 AM

I could never work like that. I don't get how people do it.

Wish I had the link, but there's been studies that show a messy desk is not necessarily a sign of a messy mind / bad work ethics. One of the arguments went something like:

The disorderly person will always have the most recently used / needed pieces of information at the top of the stack of papers due to some natural selection causing the most used pieces to appear on top and the less used to naturally sift their way down the stack. The orderly person will always have to sift through their order to find the info they need...

or some shit like that.

*shrug*

Yes. I've heard that people with cluttered desks are very smart. It's weird but it seems to be true.

No the bigger point is, if he is so energy conscious 1 monitor should be enough.
In addition wasting trees by all the paper scattered all over everywhere.

He should lead by example if what he claims is true about the environment.

shekinah 05-21-2007 11:03 AM

He needs some amusement to, it's not good to work everytime you know?:)

mattz 05-21-2007 11:04 AM

Wow, and I thought my desk was a mess.

why stop there? why not argue that he shouldn't have an office, a phone and should be working across the street, under a tree in the park on a notebook powered by squirrels and biodiesel?

do you think he doesn't need access to information? do you really think the countless documents, briefings, proposals, bill etc are on paper because he wanted them to be? just because information is on paper... he shouldnt have it and read it as it pertains to his job?

Hollywood Horwitz 05-21-2007 11:26 AM

a lot of peeps give Al a hard time and say he is a hypocrite, his electric bill etc...but honestly it would be impossible to be totally green in his position. Plus I'm sure he does the best he can at being green, his movie basically says just do what you can do,thats all.

Choose 05-21-2007 12:15 PM

Paper for the most part comes from trees grown on tree farms. So wasting paper and not recycling it is actually better for the environment.

If we didn't use or waste paper, they wouldn't plant the trees that are used to make paper with. The trees grow for 20 years or so producing oxygen for us to breathe. When they are harvested, they are replanted to restart the process all over again.

So using a piece of paper, is just like eating a apple, both are grown for consumption.

candyflip 05-22-2007 11:49 AM

I bet Al has ADD.

His desk is so clean compared to mine. :(

tony286 05-22-2007 07:14 PM

from :http://www.time.com/time/magazine/ar...2597-1,00.html

Al and Tipper Gore's home, a 1915 antebellum-style mansion in the wealthy Belle Meade section of Nashville, is laid out a bit like Gore himself: a gracious and formal Southern façade; slightly stuffy rooms when you walk in the door; and startlingly modern, relaxed, informal living spaces to the rear. The Gores bought the old place five years ago and are still retrofitting it, making it energy efficient with new windows, new heating and cooling units, solar panels on the roof. (The anti-Gore crowd zinged him recently because his electricity bill last August was 10 times the local average. The Gores pay extra to get 100% of their power from renewable sources, and their zealous retrofitting will no doubt bring their costs down. But it stung.)

false false false most paper does not come from tree frams. X-mas trees yes, paper no

Negative. Most of our paper comes from managed timberlands, which are considered an agricultural crop. These managed timberlands are tree farms. Also something close to half of the mats put into paper production come from recycled goods/waste wood particles.
