a really tough nerd question
 

My friend he has his act database(he is a headhunter) on a windows 3.1 box. He compressed the hd to get more on it.How can I get those files off that box without using a shitload of floppies?

Is it online? a network? More info needed...

on the box attached to nothing on his desk.

possible to attach a usb to serial or something like that?
and then just ext hd?

or windows 3.1 not a go on them?

external usb hard drive or big ass memory stick.
Don't leave home without it!

Or just pop his HD into another machine, mount it as a slave and copy it directly over.

Windows 3.1 doesnt have usb only serial I think

Don't you have an old 2-3 gig harddisk lying around somewhere? put it in the computer and transfer the files to that disk and then pull it out again.. then put the disk into some other computer and transfer the files to that computer or a cd/dvd/flash-drive..

He had someone try that and they said it didnt work because the files are compressed.
