Tech QUESTION: External USB HD when connected....windows has issues

starting up correctly.... but when i take it ut of the USB port windows works fine.

Any ideas?

maybe it takes too much power - do you use an active usb hub with external adaptor

nah its a internal USB attached to motherboard
