Not bad. I think this part is important.

I don't think it's anywhere near that high, as I noticed a bunch of things that aren't really true or are partially true. Still, some of it was right on. The easy ones to guess that is. Still, it's an interesting read.

Shit lots are spot on if you think about them.

notabook 05-22-2007 03:10 PM

Most of those are dead on, even if worded a bit weird. Amazing how much insight that article had.

Exactly! :thumbsup It's 8 years part 1999 and government hasn't exactly been 'keeping down' space exploration/space colony technology so... where's the moon base at?:1orglaugh

Really the government has been "keeping down" space exploration. The budget for NASA is only around $16 billion. Each manned space shuttle launch costs between 450-550 million. Cost to the moon? About a billion.

Want to go to Mars? You are talking about tens of billions.

Want to setup a permanent human-sustainable colony on any surface other than Earth? You are talking in the high tens of billions.

This isn't counting the unmanned space probes/payloads that get sent up. Those are much cheaper at around $11,000 per pound, still adds up fast.

I'm wondering why we don't all have our personal helicopters yet. :(

"The future ain't what it used to be" - Yoggi Bera

The shopping by video phone really hit it home.
I remember hearing that when I was a kid.

Funny, the actual video phone is a bust, but who needs it.
I video conference all the time, crystal clear.

Can't believe they still work on that one in this day and age. every Christmas somebody has a "Video Phone" on the market, and I'm just screaming at them, "Just give it up, it's over, it's outdated!"
