Legal threats from topbucks towards submitters to wanktube.com

I'm sorry many submitters to wanktube.com have been slapped with online c&d's.

As an owner of wanktube.com it I have been informed we need to accept the stance Topbucks has taken and will be removing promotional videos belonging to them from our site. They have every right to take this stance and we will respect it.

There are many many other sponsors who are more than happy to accept our traffic, though please check that tube traffic is acceptable to your sponsor before you upload videos in the future.

*bump*

From what I have been told and what our lawyer has told us topbucks content needs to be removed from all tube sites. Pornotube, wanktube, xtube etc.

Sure tube sites give great traffic, but you should remove all topbucks content asap :(

Not surprising given a lot of those uploads are using their content to promote OTHER sites... eg:

Did they say why they don't want your traffic? Just curious.

From what we can gather from my tb rep ppl are overwriting their watermark with their own.

Thing is it still results in a sale for them even if the affiliate gets credit, but lets see what they do to pornotube submitters and especially xtube submitters where things are worse.

I clicked on the sponsor link we allow them to place and it went to a topbucks site.

Am I missing something ?

Yeah... They don't want their videos being used to promote a different site. i.e. putting watermarks over the video. In fact, I suspect that's against the TOS and those affiliates should probably be terminated.

ok.

If affiliates are putting their watermarks over tb watermarks then maybe they should be terminated. Maybe thats why TB is throwing out c&d notices at their affiliates. Pornotube and xtube submitters looks out.

Oh.. and that link goes thru a redirect.. So it's easy for that guy to direct it anywhere he wants.. eg.. if he gets termed at topbucks, he just sends it to some other lesbo site. Since it's impossible to monitor the thousands of links like that out there, topbucks has no guarentee that those links will allways lead to their sites.

The reality is that for affiliates, posting videos like that to any "tube" site isn't really going to be effective unless you can watermark it with your own url and also be able to use a link.. And you can't watermark sponsor videos.. and if you do a link, you want to have it go thru a redirect in case something happens to the sponsor... which isn't good for sponsors either.

Those tube sites are only usefull for the sponsors themselves to post their own videos and for those guys smart enough to license their own videos (you can get them as low as $15 and cut it up into multiple pieces making it more cost effective) and watermark and link to your own site.

You are correct.

our content was found on wanktube that was against our terms...ie: covering our watermarks, adding their own watermarks, etc.

Actually, many sponsors embrace and encourage this type of marketing. I make over $2K a month from one program that cuts and watermarks the videos for me.

They must be pretty desperate if they're willing to watermark their videos with your domain name. I can't think of any good reason for a sponsor to do this. Are you sure we're talking about the same thing.

stickyfingerz 05-27-2007 04:25 AM

I do it differently if I use a sponsors content for a video site, but Its working well for me and I aint saying. lol

I agree, then again, some sites don't have any exclusive content, so they don't give a fuck.

How else do affiliates get traffic from tube sites to send to you ?

Most surfers enter the watermark url.

I was thinking that as well.. but even so, why cut up the videos and watermark them for someone elses site?? If you're going to go thru all the effort anyway, watermark them for your own sites and hire some cheap labour to do the submitting... Just doesn't make sense to me unless I'm missing something.

Yeah, we're talking about the same thing. The program that does it for me isn't hurting for sales, either.

Dirty Dutchman 07-21-2007 09:24 AM

And there I asked TB the other day about submitting these videos to wanktube etc and they were absolutely fine with it?

Then again I understand them not wishing to have their stuff rebranded and used for promotion other than their product.

Anyone that can tell me if they are really fine with the posting as long as it is unmodified TB promoting?

fris 07-21-2007 09:26 AM

topbucks has always been very anal about their content, i asked them once if i could use their trailers for promo, and they said i couldnt.

Dirty Dutchman 07-22-2007 11:52 AM

I better ask again..
and will (sorry) double post here to get Sausage's attention:
m8, how can I embed wanktube videos on my own blog?
