Auto bidder on snapnames

I bidding now for one domain name, and every time when i enter bid i am automaticly outbidded for 10$.Is that maybe snapnames bot which is maden to "encourage"people to pay more or some simply installed bot from other auctioner(since auctioner name is dnwinner)?Beacuse in that case i could bid to 10k so let's see then who will fuck me with bot hehe

fris 05-27-2007 05:01 AM

he probably has a set limit, he could enter a bid of 5000$ and you wont outbid him until you reach that

when you bid on snapnames, or any other domain site, you are in a legal agreement.

Why don't you try it and then see if it doesn't matter when you win the auction and don't have the money to pay for it.

foulplay 05-27-2007 08:29 AM

It automatically bids the other guys up until they hit their limit. Like how ebay works. Don't bother bidding if Vaxis, Bonkerstwo, or Bart Simpson are in your auction. :action-sm

Yes i know that's way i dont dare to bid 10k to smoke money which i dont have.

The Walrus 05-27-2007 09:33 AM

It works like this; Guy A places domain auction, let's say starting bid is $10.00

Guy B sees auction and bidding increments are in (let's say) $1.00

Guy B is willing to pay up to $100.00 for Guy A's domain name. He enters this fact into his bid sheet. So Guy B bids $11.00 for domain name.

Along comes Guy C and sees domain for $11.00 and like the name. He bids $12.00 and immediately gets email stating that he has been outbid.

Reason? Guy B will auto conter bid because of what his max amount he is willing to pay has not been met.

:)

You won't stand a chance at getting decent names for a decent price on snapnames. They are dominated mostly by big domain companies.

Yes, these guys are really able to overbid everyone else.
I really didnt get it, how they can make profit from some of high priced domains which they bought in Snapnames auction

Because they are big companies with millions in assets and hundreds of thousands to spend. The highest bid i've seen there was probably freehoroscopes.com for $185,000.

All the drop places are the same. If you want good names be prepared to spend damn good money for them as you are up against huge companies.

I get great names all the time at Snap Names for the minimum bid.

Yes but only snapnames have auction module howmuch i was notice.
Also i found "cause" of bot-
How to Bid Competitively
You don't have to be present in order to bid competitively at auction. Our incremental proxy bidding system helps ensure that, during an auction, you never bid more than the minimum amount needed to win the auction.

From your account page, you can easily set a maximum bid for each auction. Like eBay, your "max bid" indicates the highest amount you are willing to pay to purchase a domain name.

During an auction, our proxy bidding system will automatically increase your bid for you, starting at the lowest possible amount, and automatically increase your bid in response to competitive bids up to the amount necessary to win, but never more than your maximum bid.

I just won one domain :)

Thats for sure, but they still buy a lot of domains, which can be hardly profitable, considering fact, they put them on some parking service.
But on the other side, if they were not profitable, they would not buy them, so there must be some logic :winkwink:
I have bought hundreds of domains via snapnames in the past, and now when i dont need them anymore, I put them on parked services too, but its only small bonus considering the price I paid for them.

tranza 05-29-2007 02:00 PM

You never bought anything from an online auction before, have you?

Snapnames definitely uses a bot. There's been a couple of times where I lost a domain by a dollar only to find out that I won the domain since the 'buyer' didn't pay or something.

Brujah 08-28-2007 03:27 PM

what was the name of the guy that outbid you and then didn't pay?

O mine.Well i tired of snapnames,i spended over 2500$ and earned nothing from there. After i transfer domain from them,i will add them to every possible scam list.
For exaple, domain bobbin.com sold for 3072$,and it has only pr5.On what bases it can be sold for 3072$ ????
