or did you start making websites to see if you could do it, or just to fuck around...see if you could accomplish anything?

im interested, please share ...

Money was second on the agenda for us. Our first website was free when we launched back in 1999.

Basically we just wanted a place to showcase our images and get them known. As the website caught on, we started to realize the revenue potential.

A nod has to go to Jimbo (here on GFY) for his pivotal role in the early days.

For the money, I tried to see if I could make money on the interwebs.

Barefootsies 05-28-2007 06:27 PM

It started as a hobby. I did it for me.

Then in the late 90's the internet changed, and became a pay to play.

So I needed better hosting, and the bandwidth was costing me a mint. So it went membership to pay the bill. People signed up, and soon I was making a profit to fund my hobby. It grew from there.

Over time I tried a few different things here and there. Always made money. But I kept working at my telco job, and just did it on the side. After 8 years of that foolishness I decided to go it full time online, and here I am.

Making more than I was at the telco job, and working significantly less.

Of course :pimp

Tho that was around around 95-96 and it would be stupid not to make websites and extend the biz.

Cardinal_Sin 05-30-2007 05:51 AM

Was looking on the web for some info and came across all the adult stuff - (this was 95) Searched through the adult and realised there were no niche sites that interested me, so decided to have a go at making them - Very hit and miss having to learn about all the programmes we needed, but launched our first site in May 95 and it's still going strong today.

fallenmuffin 05-30-2007 05:53 AM

My first sites had nothing to do with money in 98-99.. Games, coding and applications I had developed. Money didn't really take control until 2001-2002

Angelo22 05-30-2007 05:56 AM

i wanted a plce on the net of my own
so i made my first site just to make a place to show its mine

minniesoporno 05-30-2007 06:02 AM

I got started out of curiousity, and curiousity killed the cat and satisfaction brought it back :)

before I knew it I had my first webmaster check for 400$. not really knowing how and how to do it again.

CurrentlySober 05-30-2007 07:16 AM

suesheboy 05-30-2007 07:21 AM

dynastoned 05-30-2007 07:28 AM

long time ago i sat on my computer for a few days straight trying to learn html with angelfires html examples. made a bunch of piece of shit pages that id show my friends so they could laugh. never really went any further then me messing around with dreamweaver everyonce in a while after that.

then i met my boy pr0 on another board he showed me the basics on how to make money by signing up for some affiliate programs and throwing a few links up. i just took off from there and have been making money online ever since.

you never got paid? how much did they owe you?

Stephen 05-30-2007 10:41 AM

I began in 1994 with two sites promoting Virgin Islands travel and tourism, and was immediately profitable (the sites were advertiser supported).

Porn came later when I wanted to get away from my reliance on a local customer base.

:thumbsup

Cyndalie 05-30-2007 10:43 AM

I was hired full time to become an adult webmaster (marketing) so it was swim or get fucking fired. I'm still swimming nearly 10 years later :)

sharp 05-30-2007 10:48 AM

honestly? just for fun making little notepad sites...
in around 98-99 made a cheap ass landing page to spam the fuck out of on aol. was very profitable, though

Bhunter 05-30-2007 11:52 AM

Started because I wanted to share my interests with others.

I've been a "webmaster" for like 10 years now. At first, I did it for the fun of it. Then, started making website for people, mainstream. Then, like 4 years ago, I found the adult industry, and made alot of money from working from home!

NTSS 05-30-2007 04:33 PM

Yahoo chatroom spam got me started.

I was already into mainsteam at the time and I was chatting with some chicks on Yahoo...(yeah.. so what!). All the hot chicks in the room it seemed were "bots". I figured they must be making some coin off all the fake nicks I would see so I decided check into it futher.

A few days later I got my first sale and at one point I was making $200-$400 a week. If it wasn't for Yahoo chat I wouldnt be here today.

Thanks Yahoo...I love you guys!
