we need to invade Venezuela
those poor people need to be liberated, we, as America, have a duty to spread freedom and democracy across the globe
President Hugo Chavez's administration shut down one station that was critical of him, and has opened an investigation into the remaining opposition station, Globovision. The U.S. State Department objected to the actions against news outlets. |
consider that their gas prices are 12 cents a gallon, think of the margins

I think that whole thing is funny. The President there seems to think he can just close down a popular tv station and have the government run it. I'm guessing it's like PBS now. How boring for them.

well, in fact he didn't "close" it. A private company had some permission to operate that station for some time since it was some state channel, and they simply didn't renew them the contract and now it's being run by the state instead of being private. Big difference

Only seen a few programs, but they were produced fairly well - tho maybe that is not normal? |
Now there's an invasion I'd support...

Besides, that channel openly supported an attempted coup against Chavez in 2002. Like him or not, but he's been the democratically elected president so far. I have no doubt he's on his way to turn Venezuela into a dictatorship, but at this time he's still democratically elected. |
