Got my new caT!!! need help.. (pics included)

hey guys, finally got my new buddy last night.

I got him from some guy who found him on the street. he is probably 2-3months old. So far, here's what happened

I setup his new scoop free litter box and he is using it well!!
He is also eating his food and drinking water..

Now the few problems..

He runs away when i approach him and stuff.. i know he is not very used to me. Does anyone know a way to make ur cat adjust to you faster??

Also, he doesnt sleep on his bed! he slept on my pillow.lol i even tried catnip on his bed but that only got him there for few mins.

One thing though, i have a vet appointment with him today, he needs to get his shots, checked out, plus he has a lil diarrhea when the guy gave him to me but he is better now with some good food and lotta water.

Also, he seems to have LOST some of his whiskers. Do you know if he'll grow it back?

he has so much fur! gonna be lotta work grooming him.

So basically how do i make him not be scared of me?

apart from that everything is working great, when i do manage to hold him he will let me stroke him forever. Last night he fell asleep lotta times while iwas rubbing him.. so thats good..

Now heres the pic

He might look older but he isnt. thats a close up pic. he is much smaller. possibly 3lbs at most.

He will only get used to you the more time you spend with him.

When watching tv and stuff, try make sure the cat is near. Only then will he learn to trust you more...

He/She is great. :)

Just ignore him, don't approach him too much and he'll come to you.
As long as you're the one that feeds him you're good people in his book ;)

Cats just like to feel like THEY are the boss, and not you. He's really cute BTW!!

Awesome cat, looks alot like mine ^-^

Just let him get used to you at his own pace, he will trust you. Just give him time.

yeah, just wait it out & he'll come around... he's probably not used to people as much but he'll grow to be very close with you over time i'm sure.. i'd say a few weeks

the whiskers will grow back

here's my ball of fur, have fun brushing him & investing in lint rollers!

feed it, nice pussy... =)

Furious_Female 05-31-2007 06:57 AM

Aww, cute kitty! Congrats :)

He will learn to trust you and be more affectionate at his own pace. It won't take long. They grow attached to the ones that feed them and give them attention.

carol.prime 05-31-2007 10:26 AM

cute cat indeed!!!...just teach him/her, learning process is much slow compare to dogs just do it everyday until he/she already knew it...

Tom_PM 05-31-2007 10:33 AM

I'm sure if you speak in a soothing kind of voice and just relax, he'll eventually be fine with your proximity being closer and closer. Keep your hand below his head, palm up and he may come right up.

Cats are finely tuned. They'll catch on if you are relaxed and calm, and they'll pick it up if you are skittish and paranoid and erratic.
