Stolen Domains (what to do)?

What is the process of recovering domain names that have been hi-jacked? They were stolen when at registerfly, now they are transferred over to godaddy who is not being any help whatsoever. :Oh crap

Makingcoin 05-31-2007 10:35 PM

And why the fuck would someone jack your domains but leave your nameservers up?

Sosa 05-31-2007 10:35 PM

didn't this happen to you before? Hopefully you have tried talking to godaddy over the phone. With a higher up person atleast.

TTiger 05-31-2007 10:55 PM

happen to me few mouth ago and nothing you can do:(

Makingcoin 05-31-2007 11:05 PM

How do they steal your domains?

If I was unable to transfers the domains out from registerfly how the fuck could someone else jack my domains without any proper documentation?

Chest Rockwell 05-31-2007 11:10 PM

I had 20 domains 'lost' at Registerfly and were in redemption. They were transferred to Godaddy a couple of days ago, with my nameservers and an empty 'whois'.

This evening I received my email from Godaddy with the account info for those domains. All of my 'lost' domains were in there, the only catch being that I need to renew them by June 28 or I'll lose them.

Did you get the email about your domains moving from RegisterFly to GoDaddy? This was imposed because of the problems from RegisterFly by ICANN. Chances are they created an account for you and you didn't get the email (yet) about your new login. If the new registrar is godaddy and you have the same DNS servers, I bet it was part of the icann agreement and not stolen.

Negative. I recieved the email but these domains aren't in there. They are in someone elses GoDaddy account now and they won't do a thing!

Violetta 06-01-2007 12:32 AM

hmm... that sucks. Who is the "new" owner?

WetNLive 06-01-2007 12:38 AM

I used to work for GoDaddy, and I know there is a dispute process for this type of thing through them. Who knows though with the whole registerfly fuck up.

Do you have your receipts from when you purchased the domains from them? Might be helpful.

Never set your registrar password same with hosting, tgp partner accounts etc.
most of hijackers sniff your domain password from them.

I never do, I use auto generated passes for everything.

webgurl 06-01-2007 01:31 AM

That's pure fucked up , i am sure u asked eggroll
what he did about his fiasco ?

MacDevilish 06-01-2007 07:34 AM

Okay... here is what I can explain to you about this... there is going to be a little bit of a delay while GD GoDaddy gets up to speed on what was paid for but not renewed, what has and has not expired etc etc... My advice is to send an email to them spelling out the entire situation and letting them work on it... they made the arrangement with ICANN, so now they need to provide the service they said they could... I will be happy to help out in any way that I can... Cheers!

DaddyHalbucks 06-01-2007 07:41 AM

Sheesh, what a mess!

Anna_Miller 06-01-2007 09:09 AM

We had this happen with Directnic several years ago. They were transferred without our permission. Have you talked to RegisterFly as well? We spent two days on the phone but got it resolved.

Talked to registerfly? I hope you are joking!

smoke 06-13-2007 11:34 PM

Same thing happened to me. Got all of my names out of Registerfly except for one. Registerfly changed my who is info and locked it so I couldnt change it back. I've been trying to find someone to help with the situation but no one seems to be interested. A who is lookup still shows Registerfly as the registrar so Im not sure what's going on. I've been sending Icann emails everday for the past 3 or so months but the only response I got was that they would have someone from Registerfly contact me which of course never happened.

There's tons of info about the crap registerfly has been doing over the past year or so at registerflies.com.

There was a lot of heat between the owners and I believe one of them was accused of stealing peoples domains and selling them:helpme. He was also accused of taking company cash and spending it at titty bars...

I'm tired so I could be mistaken, but I think that's what I read.

Fabuleux 06-20-2007 12:17 PM

Makingcoin, I lost a domain too. All my domains are transferred from Registerfly to eNom or Godaddy successfully except one. If you've got any more info, please let me know.
