Keep in mind AMP'd just filed chapter 11. And Helio seems to be an identical twin to AMP'd. Not sure what would happen to all their subscribers should they actually go under. Make sure you take their support for a test ride too ( call em and ask them a bunch of questions ) because I had AMP'd for a short while and it sucked to say the least.. jipped me out of a $100 rebate too.

I tried Helio a few weeks back when the Ocean came out. I was real excited about the phone, and I heard the service was good. Unfortunately they use Sprint's towers here in Vegas which sucked ass, as we were dropping about 75% of our calls. The phone was okay, but didn't quite live up to the hype. Customer service was always friendly and generally helpful, but that can only go so far.

I had the Q on Verizon before that, but left Helio in our 30 day guarantee period to Cingular and got the new Blackberry 8800, and recently the Curve as well. The Curve is my favorite by far since the keyboard is so much better than the 8800's.

Helio was good enough for me if it wasn't for the service issues where we live. That might not be the case where you are, but it's definitely a good idea to research it first.
