The Duck 06-12-2007 01:17 PM

dell laptops are fucked in the fucking head

tranza 06-12-2007 01:30 PM

Never used one. Here's a bump for you...

Scott McD 06-12-2007 01:34 PM

I gave up with Dell altogether untill they get actual English speaking workers at their call centers... :321GFY

KILL_FRENZY 06-12-2007 02:15 PM

Never used one but I've heard that are good

Peaches 06-12-2007 02:16 PM

I just ordered one - Inspiron E1505. I've been using an Inspiron 8600 for the last 3 years and it's been great. Had another old Dell that's at least 8 years old and my brother's still using it (and thinks he should get my 8600 as HIS upgrade when I get the E1505.......).

CIVMatt 06-12-2007 02:16 PM

Best laptops I've ever used

tomud 06-12-2007 02:16 PM

i like DELL ...but LENOVO too :pimp

badmunchkin 06-12-2007 02:20 PM

they're cheap and ummm.... cheap - not much else to say about 'em - I have one and it's slow as shit :2 cents:

Babagirls 06-12-2007 02:21 PM

I have a dell laptop and love it. BUT if you're looking for good customer support, don't go to dell. Once I called and I literally couldn't understand *a* word that the outsourced guy was saying, so I asked for his manager...he was worse! lol I hung up, called back, and got a broken-english speaking woman. I gave up at that point. And they don't send the Windows OS cd like they used to. You have to buy it if you want it. Sucks.

PinPine 06-12-2007 02:23 PM

Ordering was a bitch, but I have had 2 dell laptops, a gaming machine and a low weight 12" inch laptop. Both are great and easy to expend when it comes to memory.

LadyMischief 06-12-2007 02:24 PM

I love my Dell...

O man are you right about the damn Support! I ordered a laptop online & they ended up calling me to verify. I couldnt fucking understand a word this dumb chick was saying, The laptop had come to around $6000 after loaded it with all the best shit. The girl was trying to verify all my info & for whatever reason didn't beleive I was who I was even though i had just gave all my info, credit card, & had a copy of my ID faxed to them. After trying to understand what this chick was sayign for abotu an hour I ended up cancelling the order all together. 3 days later they had a manager call me to try and get my business back and I told him to call me back when he learned to speak english properly or hired someone who didnt arrive in the country on a floating door.

Peaches 06-12-2007 02:34 PM

Support totally sucks. I ordered a powercord, they sent it DHL, our DHL guy apparently won't come up here from ATL if it looks like he won't get back there by 5PM and kept screwing up telling their corporate office where the package was (our OLD DHL guy - thankfully I have a friend whose husband's a VP at DHL and the driver we USED to have no longer has a job....). I told Dell since I'd ordered it overnight and it had been A WEEK by then, I'd appreciate getting another one sent FedEx overnight. They said "OK, we'll get that out in a 7-10 days" Oy.

Ya ya take your dirty paws off... I know what thoughts you're having and they aren't pure :P I saw that look in your eyes when you were messing with it...

zango- 06-12-2007 02:46 PM

i would not go with a dell laptop unless you want to play Russian Roulette
they are unreliable mother fuckers but those oversees whatever you call them who answer the phone sure do make up for the shitty hardware.
if you do get a dell go with Inspiron not a latitude, they seem to do better but either way get yourself the extended warranty and a bible to pray it doesn't break a day after your extended expires.
best of luck and let us know if you buy one so we can all pray for you.

OG LennyT 06-12-2007 02:55 PM

bought my Dell laptop on EBay.. loaded Win XP.. runs like a fucking champ... when she dies, fuck it, I'll buy another

Peaches 06-12-2007 02:57 PM

One of the options I got on mine is a LoJack - I'm sure I overpaid but damn, that's cool :) Plus if I ever need to find myself, I can call them ;)

bDok 06-12-2007 03:11 PM

i hate dell laptops. junk.

rapmaster 06-12-2007 03:23 PM

I have had a few dell laptops, none made it more than a year

their customer service is terrible and it will be a while before I give them another chance

I hear they've gotten better but I wouldnt put money on it

Michaelious 06-12-2007 03:46 PM

The XP9 looks really good.

donkevlar 06-12-2007 03:48 PM

One time as a practical joke I fucked every female employee at Dell.

Man, do I hate their computers.

minniesoporno 06-12-2007 03:52 PM

I have an insprion 6000 I am happy with the Laptop just not the customer service at Dell. so I am thinking of selling it just not sure who is going to buy it.

Cash 06-12-2007 04:22 PM

I own a Dell Inspiron 6400 , it's very good. Buy from here:
Dell notebook

Hell Puppy 06-13-2007 12:17 AM

Up until approximately a year ago, I would've whole heartedly recommended a Dell laptop. But they're really slipped in quality and reliability. Two we bought last summer were total nightmares. I've also got a friend who runs micro support for a Fortune 500 company who has dumped them due to extremely high failure rates.

I've been buying HP's for replacements since last Fall and have had great luck with them.

Donkey Punch 06-13-2007 12:24 AM

I've had an inspiron for about 3 years now.

It's awesome !

I've had a couple problems, but Dell took care of them promptly.

Even when one problem was out of warranty (before the lawsuit). They still took care of it.

I guess since the lawsuit was won, my warranty is extended until this winter ! :)

my Inspiron 8200 I've worked on for over 3 years, REALLY worked it to the ground too, and I'm STILL working on it right now, very very very happy with it :thumbsup

I was just looking at dells website for a new laptop. I got angry yesterday and it looks like my laptop monitor and harddrive is broken now, :(

*note to self: never beat the shit out of things that doesn't feel pain. *

Catalyst 06-13-2007 03:11 AM

natas 06-13-2007 03:20 AM

I've had my dell laptop going strong now for 18 months.

It's never fallen over once and I've taken it all over the world...couldn't reccomend them more.

I would definately buy another:thumbsup

Farang 06-13-2007 10:09 AM

I have one, Inspiron 9400

B2BwithJoeD 06-13-2007 10:17 AM

I use the Inspiron 9400 too and it's been great :thumbsup A little large for traveling, but fast.

buzzy 06-13-2007 10:19 AM

I had an XPS M1710 2.33 ghz with 2gb ram, but sometimes it would go to the blue screen and id have to restart like at least once a week...

TGVinny 06-13-2007 10:25 AM

I don't mind Dell, mine is still running strong and I've put it through bedlam! However, I just use the Laptop when I can't use my desktop!

PersianKitty 06-13-2007 10:28 AM

I have an Inspiron 8500 that I bought several years ago just for traveling. Never a glitch. Both my sons lived on (gamed on) Dell laptops until I bought them both desktops.

I also have Dell XPS desktop that I've had over a year now. Something funky happened with the on/off button on the monitor I bought at the same time. They shipped me a new one next day air, no cost to me.

My son's GF just recently got an HP dv6500T that's a nice looking thing, but not sure how it's gonna to long-term.

I'm getting ready to replace my Inspiron because people have used and abused it (other than me) when I'm not traveling. Hate to though.. it's fine for the basics that I do when traveling.

PK

Peaches 06-13-2007 10:36 AM

This is interesting - just canceled the order for the E1505 after seeing I can get the 6400 with XP (I'm tired of lugging around the 17 inch) and some of the options offer "3-yr North-American based support" and "Dedicated North American-based technical", lol.
