Why's nobody selling non-IE traffic ?

I mean think about it, anyone still using Internet Exploder probably has no firewall/antivirus, 500 different trojans rewriting each other's code over your affiliate url, who needs them ?

How come brokers don't offer a special premium package, no IE traffic ? You're prolly going to convert 2x on that.

SmokeyTheBear 06-13-2007 05:58 PM

firefox is just as exploitable , its just not used by as many people.

but i thnk the main reason is lots traffic brokers deal in popups and such that firefox users wont get , thus the % of ff users is prob much lower on brokers.

That will change once people start using my firefox popup codes :)

BucksMania 06-13-2007 06:01 PM

ie = ~60% in your numbers, non-ie would then be 40%.

my numbers show ie total around 35%, making non-ie about 65%. i suppose the difference comes from the respective quality of traffic we get (ie, how many actually intentional visits as opposed to skimmed/redirected/console/popup etc.)

I'd say that difference between your 60% and my 35%, ie, 25% of your traffic, is just junk traffic that you convert 1:10000 or less and not really worth the bandwidth.

my bad .. i thought you said firefox was at 50% :) :thumbsup

Hotrocket 06-13-2007 10:47 PM

my numbers are:
Jan 2007
IE7 = 55.3%
IE6 = 30.2%
Moz = 13.5%

March 2007
IE7 = 57.6%
IE6 = 28.3%
Moz = 13.1

June 2007 -to date
IE7 = 44.4%
IE6 = 43.5%
Moz =10.8%

And as far as I can tell my stats are fairly reflective of current browser use as a whole.

I am curious how you correlate quality of traffic to browser?
I will agree that if you are looking for techie type traffic, firefox and other alternative browsers may be the users you want..but otherwise I fail to see any relation.

IE users = newbies - they are ready to pay for porn
non IE users = advanced users - they know torrents, P2P - hard to convert them

Idiot.... But hey, you seem like the typical "IE is shit" flamer, but you just showed how little you actually know about the topic.

NONE of our computers have EVER been infected - ever. No rootkits, no trojans, no spyware, no BHO's.. nothing.. ever. And we only use IE.

If you want to use Firefox, go ahead - but get your facts straight

conversely, ie users = can't be bothered to put on firewall/antivirus, download codecs, get trojans, install zango toolbar.

firefox users = kids trying to look techie, general nerds = beat it alot. if the existance of torrents meant people don't pay for porn, then being married meant people don't fuck around. and if history has taught anything...

if you have a good site it'll convert. if you don't, it won't.

edit : how do you add somebody to your ignore list ? there's just a buddylist if you click their name.

Most people that use firefox are average useres like everyone else, and the only reason they are using Firefox, is because of posts like this that say firefox is better, safer ect. ect. But it aint.

The only way a computer is safe, if if the user know about safety, how to surf safely, and know what programs to uinstall. It dont matter if its Firefox or if its IE
