that's great - want to see temp comparisons though...

Yeah, I'd think the fan would struggle for starters. Would have thought you could create the same effect from double skinning the tank and just filling the outside of real water and fish - keeping the innards dry for the pc. I don't like mixing electricity and liquids after a few shocking experiences in my infomative years.

That's a pretty slick unit

They need to add some fake plants and a couple fake fish. That would be pretty dope.

The purpose isn't to look cool, but to cool the electronics. I dunno why they didn't disable the fan on the power supply. Seems pretty useless to leave it running, would be better off just using a pump to push the liquid around.

The oil they used isn't conductive so it's perfectly safe with electronics. Only issue would be cleaning the components if you ever took it out.

Does the mineral oil cool it more efficiently than air?

I would think if you had some sort of radiator type unit (something to bring the mineral oil to a fan) to remove heat, this would be a great setup. The liquid would be much more efficient in removing the heat than air would.

Very interesting. I couldn't tell, but I assume the Hard drive was submerged as well?
