Franck, you're funny (well, you're funny anyway but in this case - in particular)

you spend more energy making fun and arguing with the conspiracy theories believers than they do trying to defend them

you've wasted already probably 1k posts on arguing about conspiracy theories on GFY

that you're obsessed with it

you think they are crazy and obsessed with their theories, but you're also obsessed with making fun on of them, arguing them and showing how they are wrong

most people who don't support these conspiracy theories just move on to a different thread instead of getting excited about this :glugglug

Not that I think we haven't ever been there, I find it odd that we haven't gone back in 35 years.

NASA is planning a trip back in another 10 years or so? Seems odd to me.

What purpose would it have served to go back?

Do you think the American people would have been happy with the money spent? I don't. Which is why I have doubts that they'll ever go again.

Even though that wasn't directed at me...

The Kennedy assassination. Obviously I don't know WHO killed him, but I have NO doubt that Oswald didn't act alone.

Ever's a long time.

And we're already planning on going back in 2018. Probably because the Chinese said they were going to do it in 2020.

We already have Projects in the works to determine once and for all if there's ice water on the moon, because if there is, that'd mean we can settle there - in order to run more lunar-geological research and use it as a jumping point to other destinations in our solar system.

I feel like I'm repeating myself today though. Why can't people just post in the threads that inspire them instread of feeling like they have to start a new thread of their own?

High Plains Drifter 06-15-2007 03:01 PM

This is the easiest conspiracy theory ever to debunk since they brought back rock samples that can be verified and left things there that can be seen by telescope.

Yea, you're right... we shouldn't ever go back to the moon because it's a waste of money.

That's why there is a shuttle up there right now I think just making repairs to the international space station. Is that a waste of money too?

PLANNING to go back. Sure. But that's still at LEAST 10 years away and a lot can happen in that time. When the ship's built and they're orbiting the moon again, I'll believe they're going back. Until then, I have serious doubts.

Well, you have to plan for it to happen... and NASA's already invested millions of dollars into the research required in for the next generation of moon missions.

Ice water would have to be proven to be there for their current model to work. They've already proven compounds exist on the moon's surface that make everyone 90% sure water's there - but no one's 100% sure.

If there's no surface ice-water (we'll likely know in the next couple years), that'll probably mean delays... but I believe China's still said it'll be there by 2020.... water or not... so we'll probably get there beforehand just to do so.

Next time we go back, we're going back to stay - not just to visit. That much is the common consensus.

And whether it be 10 years from now, or 10,000 years from now, we're certainly returning to the moon... it's our closest neighbor, and is both a logical waypoint and training ground for missions that penetrate deeper outside of our atmosphere.

We'll have to leave the Earth eventually... the moon's the first stepping-stone to that end.

I don't disagree with anything you're saying. All I'm saying is NASA funding could be cut at any given time for political reasons or public pressure and forever delay going back.

Yeah... I hear what you're saying.

One of the few things that this President did that I think wasn't a half-bad idea was increase NASA funding.

I'm hoping that's a vibe that doesn't go away any time soon.

To me, it seems a much better investment in our country's economy, our science, and our future to push money into the space exploration machine as opposed to the war machine. And if the last few years' receipts are any indication - it can be done a lot cheaper, too.

good to see another "patriot" american who is a believer of everything the media says..

Thats a simple answer. Why would you build a flaoting space station that is in more danger of falling, than putting one on the moon. Makes a lot more sense.

I also think that the moon landing was fake. I dont think that they ever got past the radiation belts.

Then, with all due respect, you either haven't bothered researching the topic, or you're not all that bright.
