I agree! It looks so clean, so organized. I like Tiger but DAYUM I can't wait. I need a new computer, so I may wait to buy one now.

How many ppl do you think use a 6 year old computer? I'd bet not many and if they are they didn't pay for many upgrades.

Well, you can but it is easier to buy a whole new PC with the OS loaded on it as sometimes upgrading from XP to Vista can be a nightmare.

nosey 06-15-2007 06:31 PM

you have no idea what you are talking about, it's a new operating system, not an upgrade of the current. All upgrades are free.

I also know that when you buy a Mac, they will put whatever OS version you want on there... I don't believe Microsoft offers that anymore, so who has who by the short and curlies?

nico-t 06-15-2007 06:45 PM

all i know is that apple sucks. They live in their own world and refuse to be compatible with everything but their own shit.

When they are pulling their hair out and practically recoding the entire Interweb just to make a USB device work?

Yeah... funny thing is though... Linux has pretty damn good saturation across the board for having so many people tearing their hair out...

Check out most server farms for instance...

And I remember back in 96-97 hearing similar banter about the unfeasibility of MP3 technology, and streaming video... it was computer nerd dreams, and to much trouble to be ever taken seriously right? :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

Progress people... they are all just tools, learn to use them all...

I agree with you on servers - I've always much preferred a *NIX server to a Windows piece of shit. However, on desktop systems, Linux has got a long way to go to become more user-friendly before it can be widely adopted.

Brujah 06-16-2007 09:03 AM

Mac OS X already is a *NIX (freeBSD?) foundation.

yep, it's the Apple way... take a great, stable OS, add a nice GUI (copy features from a couple window managers (KDE, Gnome, enlightenment etc) and don't add anything original)... and announce to the world that you invented something new...

Regardless, it's a great OS. I think it's superior to XP, but I haven't tried Vista yet. I've enjoyed using it, and the applications available for the Mac have all been pretty great. The Intel duo's, and the *NIX foundation were a perfect reason to finally jump ship in my opinion.

jonesonyou 06-16-2007 09:18 AM

O I am so confused yet again. Every Mac lover says no way they will use windows. Every windows user says the same about the Mac....Then Linux users in here.

I have no clue. I have tried to use a Mac reciendly a brand new one that a friend has and I had one hell of a time navigating the GUI. I guess this means I am a Stupid Windows user not smart enough to use a Mac...LOL

True, it's a great OS. The only 'problem' I have with Apple (and the point I was trying to make) is that in the last couple of years they haven't produced anything that was even remotely original, while they keep acting like they are a bunch of great innovators. Take AppleTV for example, stuff like that has existed for years. The only thing Apple did was 1. copy the idea, 2. put it in a white box, 3. charge a lot of money for it.

MandyBlake 06-16-2007 11:34 AM

for some reason i thought you meant MAC cosmetics lol

tenderobject 06-16-2007 12:05 PM
