facebook: best social networking site of all time?
 

the site works so well, is completely addicting, and is growing astronomically. really, who isn't on facebook (and has anything to do with online)?

i have never been to the site.

yes it is amazing - the programming/features are great. myspace is a dinosaur.

Facebook is turning into myspace so slowly that nobody realizes it. Don't kid yourself, bigger and better things will come in the future from other people. I'm already not liking facebook with all these stupid apps everywhere.

uh, there will ALWAYS be better things coming. Always. not my point at all.

I was impressed that they even had schools I'd gone to in other countries, although I haven't found many former classmates on there yet.

I was VERY impressed with their customer service as well. I needed help with my account and they fixed it and sent me a friendly support email within like a day.

It's great.. I was able to find people I haven't talked to in 10 years.

The apps are ok, they're completely optional, if you don't like them then don't install them?

dope site but i got kinda tired of it after the first couple weeks, im just not a social networking kinda guy lol

Facebook is of little use unless you are currently in college. I know they have regional networks now, but they don't match up to MySpace.

Facebook seems to be a place for people who already know each other in real life, and want privacy. Whereas MySpace encourages friend whoring from around the world.

I could see Facebook's fall from glory being very dramatic when it happens. They rely on the trendy college age demographic, and when they bolt they will all bolt at once.

It annoyed me in about 5 minutes.

All those applications they are allowing will be the downfall of the site.

I'm sick of fortune cookies and super pokes.

I don't care about sites like that. I have no need or the time to go to places like that.

I was reading about it, it's size is amazing.

I don't use facebook or myspace.. My online time is spent working, if I'm on a social site it's for the traffic and not personal life and friends. I have kids though, so I have to put my personal life with them.

But I understand why Quiet has time to play on Facebook :)

Facebook has gained a lot of popularity over Myspace recently. Good move for the kid to hang on to it.

Facebook is ok, but when most people think of social networking, they think of the big ones (StumbleUpon, Digg, MySpace, etc.).

facebooks sucks and so does mycrack space, Total waste of time.

I love seeing all my highschool friends and what they're doing these days. That to me has me hooked, the features of facebook don't impress me much. They had a great pitch of getting students to join first. That's what got me to join, seeing old friends.

As a college student i am totally agreeing with you and it upsets me. Facebook was made for college students now it is the new myspace. Sure it was good for $$$ but it sucks for the students.. But i guess money does rule the world

Good move? The kid got offered like 2 billoin, who needs more than that in a lifetime?? He could retire right then and there and have money left over for his grandkids.

watch those offers double in the coming months. facebooks ahead of the game.

I'm slowly getting hooked... Pretty fun for now, hopefully all the custom apps don't ruin it.

That is SO not true.. I have made lots of new friends on facebook, and I don't go to college. You haven't spent enough time there.

Yup, Facebook is a huge success... it's only natural that some GFYers would detest it.

Jealousy/stupidity are more common around here than most places.

When it started it was great, but as they continue to add new stuff it's turning into myspace and it lets all the stupid people annoy you with additional crap

Wasn't that kid who owns it offered $1 bln by Yahoo a year ago? I'm not sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if we look back at this story amidst the next period of doom and gloom in an economic fallout (the question is not if it will happen, just when it will happen) and that kid might look like a fool for not selling out of his virtual business when the cash was on the table.

it is definitely the best programmed site. They are using real programming languages on the back end (C) and serving pages with PHP. I have never got an error with facebook.

Myspace on the other hand opted for cold fusion which is the biggest piece of shit made. At least they are getting smart and switching to ASP.NET :)

My girlfriend keeps bugging me to join it but i have no interest. It will just result in having to talk to people who id rather have nothing to do with.

they most likely will but they might not if something else comes out. i mean seriously it's like 2 BILLION dollars. Who needs more money than that?

I don't use it but I've checked it out because I was curious. It's definitely a great concept. If I was the owner, I would have sold it for $1 billion.

I love it but I am hooked so I also hate it. My fiance joined though and he has not been able to find nearly as many people from high school. I think the older generations are taking longer to get on, while us young ones can find almost our whole graduating class online.

I have people who work with me who need to take a break from facebook and myspace and similar sites so they can actually get some work done.
