Mac users, BETA testers required

I'm looking for some people to test out my frame capture app for OS X that we've been working on for the last year. It won't be ready for release for at least a few months so as long as you give me feedback it will be free to use until then.

Ideally I want people who convert video frames into images, make thumbs etc.. and do so on a regular basis. If you're one of these people then hopefully this app will save you hours of work and still produce quality results! That's what it's designed to do anyway, there's nothing that compares (IMO) on any platform. You can sign up for the Alpha/Beta here. Please provide as much info as possible. :thumbsup

Any chance I can have a copy just to see how slow my iBook G3 will be with it, when the iBook finally arrives?

macmark 06-16-2007 02:24 PM

Guys, when you singup it would really help if you put your ICQ/AIM down so I can help you with the app. As it is Alpha software there's no documentation.

Yes, you really need GPU that supports core image, not sure if the ibook does.

Send your details and you can try it

If you can fill out the form, just so I can keep track of who I've sent it to.

digifan 06-17-2007 06:17 AM

Looks good! ;)

candyflip 06-17-2007 09:07 AM

Count me in. I've got a few Macs set up that I could test on. This is something I actually need too, and will mean less time spent on Windows.

Maybe after this you can build a Mac submitter tool and I can be done with Windows all together.

macmark 06-17-2007 09:13 AM

If you entered your ICQ or AIM when signing up, I've added you to my list already, please autorize. A lot of you are offline :)

Fucksakes 06-17-2007 12:09 PM

looks good mark, ill give it a try.

and a bump for you.

FYI. He is working on one.
I did not know about the frame capture app as the submitter has been discussed several times.

Thanks for the info. Just posted about it.
I don't really have a need for the frame capture app but the submitter I would.

Anything else we might be interested in?

Yea, my programmer is on a go slow :-/ Should have been ready by now but it's not. I still use it daily but it's not ready for any kind of release.

And i'll tell you now, the first version will have a manual database, not managed. I don't have the time or resources for that atm.

Luckily adding sites if very easy and we can convert other submit program databases if they are in some kind of structured format. Might cost though.

I do this for love more than money, given that 90+% of this board will use windows it's not the most lucrative market for this kind of software.

I should say though, since I've been using these apps and moved totally away from windows altogether(the reason I made the apps) I work much better, faster and more productively. It's much more enjoyable too.

Great to see someone working on applications for Macs. I want an affiliate stats checking program, and apparently Statsremote will run on Macs sometime later this year. I am desperately keen to get it when it is released, but at the moment there is no competition.

macmark 06-18-2007 12:35 PM

Here's a quick Demo Movie to show you a little of what it can do.

A few people who signed up haven't bothered answering my IMs or emails. Frustrating! :-/

I was just going to look for your email, was away from this comp for the weekend, but can't seem to find it. Can you send the AIM info again to info [at] alotofmodels.com

Gonna walk down the street for a cup of joe, come back and will hit you up.

Gerco 06-18-2007 02:00 PM

I signed up. AND my ICQ is on... :)

Did you even sign up? I don't have any form data that contains 'aico' or 'alotofmodels.com'.

Beta testers still wanted before it's finalized for release. The app has improved a lot in the last few weeks. Contact me for the latest beta.

candyflip 12-13-2007 04:56 PM

I emailed you. I didn't have any feedback because it worked like a charm.

Let me know when it's available for purchase. I'm ready to pay.

Kevin Marx 12-13-2007 05:05 PM

I have used the BETA since the first part of this posting.. I have been very pleased with it. I also am ready to purchase....

Lance69 12-13-2007 08:17 PM

Great looking product! Info sent! :thumbsup

macmark 12-14-2007 04:25 AM

Please let me have as much feedback as possible!

Just got it in email.. will play with it tonight..

Btw, very cool looking app..

macmark 12-20-2007 03:27 PM

Still room for more testers. And if you tried the app, please let me know what you think of it, good or bad.

gleem 01-04-2008 11:30 AM

ok, I've been using it, by far the best screenshot app for the mac by miles!

What I'd like to see:

1. A way to specify the file names of the exports so I don't have to rename em. Like a little box that allows you to specify to name them "number sequentially put a prefix, and or a suffix and specify min digits.

2. A Big Red "Export" button in the interface instead of having to goto the menu and select export (frivolous I know, but I am)

3. I am grabbing screens from 80 videos, 50 screengrabs from each to create a matching photoset for each one for members in my paysite. So I'd like a super auto marker function so I can drop 80 videos in, specify effects for each one, and hit a button and it auto creates all the screens for each video allows me to view all the screens to make sure they are good, allows me to replace ones in sequence I don't like, allows me to specify each videos screen names and then hit a big red "export all" button and it exports all processes all the videos screens at once, and it exports all 4000 screens with each videos screenshot in it's own folder. Big feature, I know, but that's what I'd like for this specific project.

But seriously, best mac app in the niche I've seen... interface is smooth!

gleem 01-04-2008 11:36 AM

oops, I just saw the naming box as I wanted, lol.. so scratch request #1 above!

One minor thing is it won't let you delete selected markers or things in the export que unless you right click and select delete, clicking "delete" key on the keyboard just beeps at me.

gleem 01-04-2008 11:38 AM

and a button on the timeline to mark "in" and "out"

kgibson 01-04-2008 11:40 AM

just signed up!!!:thumbsup:thumbsup

Anymore room for testers. Got 50 video scenes that need image exporting.

OTerror 01-04-2008 12:04 PM

I signed up as well.

borked 01-04-2008 12:51 PM

will this work on the command line (hint: XServe servers)?

teg0 01-04-2008 01:37 PM

looks good.

You can do this already. There's a naming bar especially for this (middle right of the app) in the marker view where can specify sufix/prefix/numbering. Also, you can choose to have a super simple filename prompt every time you export or add to queue. You can also rename in the queue.

File naming and renaming is pretty extensive

There's the keyboard shortcut and a toolbar icon too.

yea, I know there needs to be some kind of auto batch but it's not gonna happen this version. Already costing me a fortune :-/

Try command-delete. There's no documentation yet but deleting is the same way you delete from Finder, command-delete.
