:thumbsup

haven't used it yet.. love to hear what people says here too

biskoppen 06-17-2007 03:00 AM

I run Ultimate and it rocks...
Some minor driver problems in the beginning and still can't get my webcam to work, but besides that I fucking love it..

The build-in search feature is nice and fast as lightning

JadaY 06-17-2007 03:02 AM

Haven't tried it yet. And why would I, XP has got everything i need.

If it ain't broke = dont fuck with it.

hahaha, amen brother.

Nothing really it's a memory hog, the speed up frequently run program thing is just vaporwave.

For how little the interface can do in terms of 3d interaction it eats a but load of memory. I run it for the features it has but w/o any fancy theme or anything, XP look alike with new features. If I want a nice 3d fully interactive UI I reboot into my Ubuntu feisty with beryl on top and totally satisfy my 3d desktop needs.

Vista Ultimate

Nothing. I like my XP. It works on 7..18% faster than Vista according to various tests and has no DRM bullshit.

Pimpin_J 06-17-2007 05:03 AM

HomePremium over here and its kickin ass.. 32bit still..

I seriously cant understand why people switch to vista. If you like the eye candy you could save 500$ and simply go to a linux with compiz or xgl.

Also: No gamer or worker would like a system which occupies the double of the ram as XP did.

TampaToker 06-17-2007 05:08 AM

Haven't had a chance to look over the full features yet but i will say so far not one single issues and things running smooth. Curious anyone using the voice recognition yet?

just a punk 06-17-2007 05:11 AM

It won't be running smooth by default. Because the main reason of sufficient slowdown - the DRM protecting system won't be removed from Vista. Wanna make your programs work slower? Install Vista.

Just a quote from http://keznews.com/2902_Vista_vs__XP_in_Performace_Test : "If you really need your PC to finish huge encoding, transcoding or rendering workloads within a defined time frame, yes, it is. Don't do it; stay with XP."

Maxxx9000 06-17-2007 05:26 AM

I miss XP. Vista doesn't really do anything I couldn't be without.

rapmaster 06-17-2007 05:50 AM

I have it on 2 of my laptops but not my desktops yet.... honestly, I like the eye candy. I hate to admit it but I do.

just a punk 06-17-2007 05:53 AM

Everyone is a fan of something. You're a fan of the eye candy, shining spoons etc. I'm a fan of speed and productivity. That why you are Vista user, but I'm still on XP :2 cents:

Viper2K1 06-17-2007 06:07 AM

I have vista home premium next to XP, but still some driver problems (and I don't really like the layout of IE7)
I might be switching by the time SP1 comes out

Chariott 06-17-2007 06:08 AM

I like that it works with true SATA-II AHCI interface. WinXP doesn't work with it at all and even it cannot be installed (without sp2 integrated), so you have to use emulated IDE mode otherwise it crashed to bsod. Vista works with it pretty good. Not a crazy deal ofcourse but it is nice to know that all the potential is used which have and paid for.

well I guess I should note that I don't use the laptop for anything too resource intensive such as video editing/ photo editing etc.

Irnesto 06-18-2007 11:47 AM

Vista = Win Me V2 with cooler graphical user interface.

Ms say oh vista is more secure you get 5 shareware apps and your xp is just as secure as vista.

What is so good about a system that it takes you 10 min to change screen resolution and its asks u 5 million times if you are sure you wanna preform something.

I am IT guy for few yrs now and i used all the OSes out there and i must say vista is the worse of them i much rather use windows 2000 or even win 95 then vista. That windows firewall is waste of time and hard drive space you're better off configuring a hardware firewall through you router.

The way you can manage and use the files in Vista is so much better than XP. That alone makes it worth buying. So I did. And yeah, I've had problems ... but I had problems with XP when I started. Vista is STILL the best OS Ms has made...

Ace_luffy 06-18-2007 01:38 PM

lots of bugs..

vista

Ravage 06-18-2007 01:45 PM

Even if Vista had no bugs, and all kinds of current software worked on it, I still would not install it.

I do not need my OS spying on me even more with the heavily DRM laden Vista.

I agree on 100% with Chris. Everyone has to do his/its job. Windows should be an Operating System but not a spyware. Furthermore, Microsoft is a software development company but not a police :2 cents:

ICEDOG 06-18-2007 03:00 PM

I love Windows Vista :) :) :)

matrixxx 06-18-2007 03:35 PM

It is of course very pretty, and has some cute bells and whistles but I will wait until the first service pack before I install it on anything important.
