My niece is a hero
So many suicides lately, and attempted ones too. My niece in Northern Ontario just saved a friend of hers from commiting suicide only a few days ago. The kid's parents were here in Winnipeg and away from home so he (13 yrs old) took some of his mom's prescription whatever pills, and was going to fill the tub with water and get in and drop his ghetto blaster in it.
He was, however, emailing with my niece, and told her about his plans. She imediately informed my brother (her dad) which prompted him to call 9-1-1, and the cops & Co. got there just in time to save the kid. It was reported later that he was about 25 mins away from being dead from the pills he took. I have no idea why the kid wanted to kill himself but there are obviously problems in his life that maybe the parents ought to wake up about and not leave him at home alone anymore. |
Thats great!
You should be proud for sure that she did the right thing. Sounds like she was truly a good friend to that kid and he was lucky to have her. |
Very nice story, she did the right thing, there's way too many kids killing themselves in Canada. :(
|
Very good iof her, she did the right thing and saved a life
|
Right on. She did the right thing. That's a good reflection of your family and their teaching, imho.
|
if kids end up telling people that their going to, they need attention and seriously need help, your niece did the right thing, you should be very proud of her, but in the end i dont think this kid would have done it, he knew someone was going to stop him.

What a very intelligent young lady. The friend is lucky to have her in his life. :thumbsup

How the fuck can a 13 year old think of suicide?
|
Yes she is a hero and very smart too. She has a bright future ahead of her.

I've lost a few friends around that age... you're hitting puberty, in High School, and everything is happening to you for the first time (changes in your body, first loves, etc).
Some people just can't handle the huge change and hormonal imbalances and don't know life will get better. |
Thats great to hear. Its good seeing young friends learning the value of lfe & friendship. Your Niece should be very proud, aswell as your family.
|
The kid told her his plans, that was a clear outreach. If no one reacted it would have proven his point about no one caring about him. But, that smart girl did thus proving him wrong - someone DOES care about him, and hopefully he can see that, and thank her for the rest of his life.

congrats buddy!!!..
we should be proud of here!!... she must be the best example for the young teens...go girl!! |
that's nice to hear and I know how proud you are right now. she must be nice role model to teens these days.

And who knows what the home situation is. Some parents don't think anything is wrong with their kid at all but at the same time they don't really take any time to sit and talk with their kids or stay in tune with their lives. I'm not saying that's the case here but it can happen. When a kid that age thinks they have no one to talk to all sorts of things can go through their mind. Thanks all for the encouraging comments. :D |
