Awesome FreeWare Media/Video player that kicks ass

Took me a long time to find a better player than the VLC media player but
after checking out tons that didn't even come close I found one that's
even better, more controls, more features, more userfriendly and can play
even more formats/codecs than any other I ever checked. Best of all is
that it's freeware so no limits, no 30 day trial or any other bullshit.

GOM Player is the name and you can grab it at the site below:

http://www.gomplayer.com/

If you already knew and I'm just years behind don't bother telling me
coz I don't give a fuck whether I'm slow or not.....If you haven't seen
it and like it.......enjoy if you think it's suck sorry for wasting 2 minutes of
your time.....if it took you longer than 2 minutes....than blame yourself
for not being smart enough to figure it out any faster :thumbsup

who said I never share anything with my fellow collegues and without
a catch 22.........ya see there's still hope for humanity.....now give me
your best shot to insult me.....there's nothing better than the occasional
verbal abuse......keeps me motivated to proof you all wrong :winkwink:

stupid......I remember this.....be warned :1orglaugh

Yes it can, I can't find a full feature list but it plays every format and a few
more I have ever heard about.....same for codecs...no need for extra codecs
it comes with everything you probably ever need.

It also plays broken avi files or incomplete files for example while they're
still downloading....if there's enough data to stream something it will
whether the file is complete or not.

:thumbsup

also has tons of advanced stuff like both audio/video filters, effects and
extra controls like A-->B repeat, frame stepping, and options to manipulate
output like flipping, rotating, resizing, etc, etc. You can also change settings
like color, hue, saturation, brightness, blur, noise reduction and much more.

Same shit for audio options.....also has all the shit you want to play from DVD's
whether from disc or from DVD file formats. It even plays realplayer
formats without needing to have real player installed on your system.....
which is perfect coz nobody wants to have that shit installed.

I'm not shitting you.....this thing blew my mind when I saw it and even more
because it's freeware and not a trimmed down version next to a paid full
feature version.

ServerGenius 06-18-2007 11:30 AM

it's highly configurable and has the best control interface I have ever seen.
even the keyboard shortcuts are very advanced and easy to remember.
what you guess a key would do is exactly what it will do and if not then you
can change the keyboard functions exactly how you want it to be....

it has keyboard editor where you press the keys and select the function it
has to do......same shit for mouse control.

ServerGenius 06-18-2007 11:32 AM

the only thing it lacks is that you can't rip video from sources...anything
you can think of for playing your shit it can....

ServerGenius 06-18-2007 11:33 AM

why am I even trying to convince people to try this lol.......it's free and it's good
try it or don't......won't cost you anything more than 2 minutes to find out if I
was right or talking out of my ass :thumbsup

ServerGenius 06-18-2007 12:14 PM

ya see I told you fuckers it was good.....enjoy!

The least they could do after basically ripping off the gnome footprint would be to make a 'nix version. :P Guess I'll be sticking w/ VLC

well I gave up for on unix for my workstation a long time ago.....just like
I gave up on windows to be used for servers......

I know that if you fuck around with shit you can eventually get it to work
but to me it's not worth the hassle to just be able to do the same without
doing anything on a windows box......besides I have enough unix servers
to enjoy it that I don't mind using 1 box + laptop with windows so I can
see, open, work on all the other stuff the rest of the world is using......

sure wine and vmware is nice but it's nothing but a workaround to run
stuff often not even half as good as it should on a system that wasn't
designed to do that in the first place.....

that's only usefull if you can't have both at the same time.......or for
people that wear tin foil hats believing that everything that microsoft
has ever released is the root of all evil......I'm not part of that group :winkwink:

I used to swear and love vlc and still do......but I have to admit that this
does even more and it does it better than VLC. VLC can play almost as
many files as GOM...(almost not exactly) but some file formats really suck
on VLC, it plays them but that's it, if you jump forward for example it fucks
up for a few seconds and is slow to resume and all files I've tried on GOM
I haven't seen it doing that.......

VLC is still great though......this is just a littlebit better :thumbsup

just checked their bbs and read GOM works when using wine and they seem
to be working on a linux version but don't have a release date for it yet.
