3 more Canadian soldiers die in Afghanistan

Another sad day for the Canadian military. :(

SilkyJohnson 06-20-2007 02:52 PM

Sucks man...didn't even know Canada had any military forces.

SilentKnight 06-20-2007 02:53 PM

And of course...CNN.com makes no mention of it.

No surprise there.

Who? The Canadian soldiers that were ignorant of the fact that IED's are a real threat in Afghanistan? I guess they were enjoying some of that bliss in an unamored vehicle until some knowledge blew up underneath them. Too bad for them...:Oh crap

Of course Canada has military forces. They fought in WWII on D-Day.

Why? I'm not saying anything bad about the soldiers that died...it sucks that they died for whatever reason you want to say. I personally have not heard about any Canadian Military Forces doing anything in my lifetime, so I think it is funny to say what I said.

Sometimes I rehearse and sometimes it's natural...this instance though, there is no jackass-ery involved...just some folks that can't take a light hearted joke. Sorry ladies. :Oh crap

Anyway, that's really bad news. I feel for their families :(

My condolances to their families.

Don't quit your day job for the comedy circuit.

Our "barely existent" military takes on a lot of the thankless shit jobs nobody else will take...mopping up after everyone else's mess.

Korea, Bosnia, Cypress - and now Afghanistan...just to name a few.

We were also among the first on the beaches in Normandy.

And you might want to google the 1812 skirmish, too.

Is this what you were talking about with the 1812 skirmish?

You are right though...on behalf of all the countries with known and powerful military forces, I thank Canada for coming behind us and cleaning up our mess...it is a proud day for all Canadians!!

Your military is bigger and stirs up more controversy, that isn't something to brag about... :2 cents:

That's a good question...I wouldn't want to live anywhere else but at the same time I don't agree with all the decisions that are made by our leaders. I know you're probably looking for me to throw out a simple "Yes" so you can throw in your rebuttal but...it's just not a yes/no question to me.

I wasn't even talking about it's size or the controversy it stirs up...damn sure wouldn't brag about that. You might want to read the thread before talking out of your ass...guy.

The Canadians are fighting them over there so the Americans don't have to fight them over here.

Sorry, I thought you were trying to be clever and imply that the US military is better than the Canadian military. My bad.

ps.
Who the hell ends a sentence with "guy"? :eek7

I was only implying that I cannot remember a time when I heard of the Canadian Military Forces being involved in anything in my lifetime....that's it that's why I find what I said to be funny. You Canadians have obviously hear of any and all military actions that have been made...

The "...guy" thing is an inside joke....if you heard me say it at the end of a sentence you would know why I said it and how to take it.

Who ends a sentence with eh, eh?

_Richard_ 06-20-2007 04:30 PM

You get attacked so we send our soldiers over to help fight the dicks who attacked you and this is the reward. Nice. When you turn 20 in 3 years maybe you'll be less of a moron.

Good call insulting me on my age...you're not too bright are you? Is that the best you could come up with?

I think that's the 1st thing simple folks do when trying to insult another person over the internet.

I think pic this sums it up best:

Obviously the age crack struck a nerve so I imagine I was close. What's really amazing is that you're too slow to realize that some people may find it just as insulting that you're ripping on their soldiers dying as you do when you're made fun of because you're too young and dumb.

:1orglaugh:1orglaugh
1) You are close, you are within a decade of my actual age, which is 28.
2) I do realize that people find it insulting about ripping on the Canadian soldiers that died. I did that only after I was being ripped on for cracking a joke that may have been in bad taste. Either way I stand by what I said about the IED's (if you even took the time to read the whole thread).
3) Underestimating some peoples ability to see humor in what I said because they are mourning over some people they do not even know is not what I would call being slow. I would classify you assuming you know somebody by what they post on an internet forum, as moronic though if that makes you feel any better.

I find it rather pathetic that someone can reach the age of 28 and still not develop enough respect for the sacrifice of others to avoid coming in to a RIP thread and make comments such as you have.

I initially started this thread since I'm aware there's a large number of Canadian adult webmasters here on GFY. You saw this thread as an opportunity to demonstrate your total lack of tact, respect and knowledge about these tragic events. And when called out on it, you continued to defend and embellish your position.

As for "mourning people we don't even know" - firstly, I am a former Canadian military person, as was my father and many of my ancestors (several of which died in various conflicts Canada was involved in over the years). I am mourning the loss of not only fellow countrymen, but comrades in arms. People who selflessly volunteered to go overseas to help liberate and rebuild a country held hostage by the Taliban and Al Queda terrorists.

And you come into this thread cracking about the "non existent Canadian military".

As a citizen and representative of the United States - you suck.

I truly hope you represent only a tiny minority of small-minded individuals.

So, the fact still stands that you do not know any of these people. As for the lack of respect for the sacrifice of others...you're off on that one too. I do respect people that join the military because of a love for their country and those that would like to serve their country to better the planet. But, you don't know these people...so who's to say that they did not join the military as a last resort in life or because they have no direction in life and the military is a way to get paid and get money for schooling. For all you know these 2 guys could not even like Canada and have had no respect for past service men. So, don't pretend you know these guys and can vouch for their credibility.

I did post this comment in the wrong thread, you got me on that one...it was a bad decision and done in bad taste. For that I apologize, but for voicing my opinions, however much you disagree with them, I will never apologize. You've got as much of a right to your opinions as I do. So, I am sorry if you feel that it is pathetic that I reached the age of 28 and have enough sense to choose who I give respect to and have the ability to voice my opinions.

I think your decision to assume, that because you may have been a decent representative of the Canadian Military, that these 2 kids that you don't even know are the same upstanding representatives is small minded.

"People who selflessly volunteered to go overseas to help liberate and rebuild a country held hostage by the Taliban and Al Queda terrorists." So you know these people that good to know that that was their purpose for joining the military? I don't think so...but that's your opinion and you're entitled to that. I don't respect you less for voicing it or think you're pathetic.
