The dead guy was the passenger. He wasn't driving the car. So not only was he not responsible for hitting the kid in the first place but he also wasn't the one that decided to stop the car.

My housemate this last year had to go home to India to visit 3 of his friends in hospital.

They had been drink driving (which is bizzarely common practice in India) and run over 1 man, then carried on driving to run from the mob of onlookers, and run over ANOTHER man!!!

Their car then crashed, and the mob pulled them from their car and beat them all to near death, luckily police got on the scene.

I havn't heard from him since to find out how they did....
