what do u think of alexa ranking for google PR? im sure there is a thread about this on here somewhere (but im too lazy to look)...

a few questions..u guys (and gals) think its easy to fake an alexa ranking? i had this speed dating site i used to host and back in 2003 it had like an alexa of 300,000 with like 50 visitors a month..no joke...it was bs traffic...all search engine and word of mouth...

what do u think constitutes a "decent" alexa? i think under 20k is grand....

i dont rely much on alexa... but i dont know if it's really accurate....

You can trick Alexa into giving you a higher rating by joining one of those alexa traffic exchange/autosurf sites where everyone uses the alexa toolbar. THe more people to your site using the toolbar, the higher your alexa rating.

alexa is fucked

i have one site getting 230k uniques/day and another one getting 6-7k uniques/day

and the small one is 1/2 the rank on the alexa scale...the traffic remains the same and yet the rank just keeps going higher...so its pretty fucked

Or just advertise the alexa toolbar to your surfers... push it on them, and you will get your rank inflated... by a lot.

Thats why you should always look at other tools to gauge the worth of a site, though they may not necessarily be any more accurate than Alexa. Compete.com and quantcast.net are two other good ones.

I had a site that maybe had 20 hits a week and my rank was in the 400,000-500,000 range. Unless your rank is down in the 5 digits or less, it doesnt mean a whole hell of a lot.

Until you get around the 50k range, you can fudge it a bit with toolbars. Once you break that top 50k, you're in the 20k a day range plus. Alexa has matched the traffic trends on Shermsshack.com to a T.

Now that they have the toolbar its V-E-R-Y easy to fake rankings, Alexa rank means absolutely nothing anymore

I don't think Alexa's rating have anything to do with Google PR....

yeah..i dont either....GFY for example is pagerank: unranked..but alexa: 1,754
