OK geeks! what's the best way to setup 3monitors?

I would like to go to 3 independent monitors. Can somebody make some suggestions for me? Graphic(s) cards, etc?

Also, I'm thinking about getting 3 of these ... anybody have any comments on this monitor?

Thanks :thumbsup

I prefer to have three full PC's (or 1 windows, 1 linux and 1 mac) all sharing one keyboard and mouse using Synergy.

You can get graphics cards with 2 outputs... couldn't you just put 2 of those into your box, then you would have four monitors?? I am pretty sure windows xp and vista support this, but I may be wrong??

I still think my way is better - synergy... more processing power, OS's etc... but, hey, I'm a true GEEK :)

Somewhere I have the specs for a setup to support up to 6 monitors. :) If I can find it, I'll post it. It's been a while since I was looking at doing this.

personally, i would stick 2 monitors on one machine (the main one you work from), and then stick the 3rd monitor on a second machine, then get a good kvm switch so you can use 1 mouse / keyboard on both machines, and jump back and forth really easy.

Not sure the triple head is what you want, it may spread unevenly across the three, if you want say, just the taskbar on one of the three windows. There's a big difference between having say a 4800 X 1200 resolution screen comprised of three screens and
having three 1600 X 1200 screens (much better) because you can still drag across screens, but if you maximize a window it won't take up all three, just the current one, which is how I roll.

You want 2 new video cards (assuming you have the available slots). One will need a dual monitor output.

If you want DVI on all three without using a converter, you need THREE video cards, but it doesn't matter to me so I'd just go with the two.

Cracks open your machine and see what's available... AGP or PCI? AGP is dead, PCI has taken over recently.

I have 2 setup with 2 seperate beasts of cards. I use ultramon to take care of
all cool stuff....it's freeware and it fucking rocks

Thanks guys!

I have those monitors, but the 22" widescreen ones. They were on sale last week and I snagged up the rest they had

If your looking for a cheaper way to go, check out one of these... http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/gxm/

only thing i dont like is it makes one LARGE screen, not 3 seperate ones. you can still get a screen splitter application to run to actually devide the screens up. Im going to get one for my laptop
