how to block uk traffic?
 

A little unusual i know, but for obvious privacy reasons id like to block UK traffic to a new site im working on which will feature my girlfriend exclusively. Ive heard there are lists showing ip allocations for countries, so if i can get the info for the UK then i could block it all from .htaccess right?

Any info will be greatly appreciated guys.

Here are some instruction to do what you are asking.

It's a bit hard to do this....yes you could block IP's used in the UK
just query the database of http://www.ripe.net/

But......what about proxies? Many big ISPs use proxy servers
and not necesarliy UK proxy servers...those users won't get
blocked.......if you have really privacy concerns don't put the
content up....

Whatever you try to hide will fail.....people grabbing pics and
posting it to TGP's or putting it up on other websites? People
mailing pics, Newsgroups?

Take my advice....if you really don't want people to find out.....
don't take it to the internet.

You can block entire domains in your .htaccess file like this:

<Limit GET>
order allow,deny
deny from 128.119.166.254
deny from .255.213
allow from all
</Limit>

The problem is you need to list every major domain in the UK.

We have been on the web for two years now, with a site featuring my girlfriend. We do not block any traffic at all. In that time, maybe two people who know either of us have discovered the site. For obvious reasons, that was only people who would not mind. After all, if they are looking at porn, how can they fault us for making it? Also, it has not gotten particularly creepy with people who do know us looking at the site. I wouldn't worry. If you are that paranoid, start another damn TGP or something.

we have no problem with people seeing us, she is just really concerned about her brother or father stumbling across it, cos they are quite a conservative family. I think the odds of it happening are negligible and easily justified with a big fat paycheck every couple weeks, but she is concerned so i said id look into things for her.

Hmm, what if I was to redirect traffic coming from a specific country, say to a dialer?

If she's unsure, then don't do it. You can STILL make money by taking pictures of other girls that don't mind.

having all the IP's still won't block complete access....what about
IP nets that are registerred elsewhere but allocated in the UK?
A lot of backbone providers have setups like this..

I promise you there is no solid way to do this....no matter what
people tell you.

Now post a pic of your girl....maybe we can tell by her looks if
she's safe or not

well ive got the ip list which covers some isps, have been able to succesfully block my own as well (wasnt covered) all i have to do is confirm who their isp is and block em. i personally think chances of recognition are negligible shes not gonna become the next tawnee stone i shouldnt think. a few precautions tho should reduce the chance even further :)
